Some interesting new projects have been coming out since the release of the Open Source driver for kinect. This is exacty what I've been waiting for..
Henry Chu has also release a new video showing another shadow hack for kinect. He fights with the clone of his own shadow which has been projected on the screen after being captured by Kinect. He uses the Xbox Kinect sensor to extract the silhouette and project it back as a shadow to the prison corridor. There are 3 seconds delay between the shadow captured and projected, making it a relation between a person and his past.
Not that this will get me to buy one but i must say they have come up with some crazy uses for the kinect and i am willing to bet MS will jump in a grab a pile of ideas from it.

Its amazing what people are doing with it. I was going to get one for christmas, but decided to get a coffee maker instead, i'd use it more
