Hey everyone, I just signed up in hopes I could get some help here. I'm at a loss.

I downloaded some tutorials from the MSDN and I was going to watch them on my tv using my 360 so I could work along with them on my computer.

Even though it is in a valid format and everything is from MS, I can't get it to play. Any suggestions?

Firstly welcome to the site

A couple of questions for you to help get you sorted.

Can you see your Xbox on your network??

Have you enabled media sharing to your xbox via network centre??

Are you running the latest version of the dashboard??

If you can let me know the answers to this, it will help me narrow down the problem.

Cheers and enjoy the site

To answer all of your questions yes.

I made sure to set the folder containing the videos I want to a public share. My Xbox can see the folder, and everything else contained in them except the wmv files I want to watch. I have tried using both Windows Media Center and the Video section of the dashboard.

When I try and access them using a USB stick, the 360 can see the file, yet it gives me that error core.

Thanks for your time.

I checked out the error code and found out that it means the file type is unsupported.

Try convert the file to divx and and if that helps out.

Hi ToySoldierOddex,

Glad to hear mattster got you sorted out.. Smile
Nice tips mattster.. cheers bro.

You will more then likely come accross some similar errors while trying to watch DIVX and XVID on the xbox 360 too.. It all depends on how they were encoded and what codec etc.. We did start a forum thread which showed which codecs works and which ones didnt.. Mattster already linked you before but you can check this out from the link below again if you missed it:

Supported Xbox 360 Video/Audio Codecs

enjoy the sites and feel free to ask as many questions as like in our forums..

cheers,
