About the 1st
Welcome to the 1st ASF’s recruiting thread. We are a NAV/MAR Task Force playing exclusively on the Xbox 360 whilst recruiting for the up coming Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising. We are a realism unit, meaning we operate within our battalion similar to the way one would operate in the real military. This authenticity is even recreated to an extent for our ‘Force Structure’. The 1st ASF as a whole is a fictional battalion that utilizes the best of four universally recognized forces to complete the missions at hand to the best of our abilities.
Within the 1st ASF there are four companies. Each company holds 2 platoons while each platoon holds 3 squads, each squad generically holds 4 members, although this number is subject to change for certain circumstances. Mathematically, this is a fairly accurate representation of the US Military’s modern day force structure, just scaled down to fit our needs. The companies and their purpose are as follows:
11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (11th MEU)
• Marine infantry & USMC Armor support.
• The 11th MEU is used on larger scale operations and it is the 1st ASF’s exclusive armored support asset, which means that the 11th MEU may provide armored support for the other companies within the 1st ASF.
• The 11th MEU is the 1st ASF’s only, and best armored support available
• Has integrated sniper teams.
4th Force Recon (4th FORECON)
• USMC advanced infantry.
• Technically ‘special forces’ which means that the operators within the 4th FORECON have access to a wider selection of weapons & they will utilize a different array of tactics to obtain victory.
• Generally used in more of a reconnaissance role, the 4th FORECON will have some of the best FACs, scouts and anti-material teams.
• Also has integrated sniper teams
SEAL Team Seven (ST7)
• US Navy Special Forces
• The operators within ST7 have more flexibility with weapons and the use of FAVs; they will be able to qualify for different weapon systems and vehicle systems.
• SEAL Team Seven is not capable sustained combat team, ST7 is more of a ‘shoot n scoot’ or ‘crash n grab’ unit, operators within ST7 utilize more hit and run tactics whilst encompassing stealth and violence of action to obtain victory.
• SEAL Team Seven will have some of the 1st ASF’s best riflemen, corpsman and snipers available for use; there is a special focus on communication and CQB within this company.
Carrier Air Wing Eleven (CVW-11)
• US Navy airmen & aircrew
• CVW-11 universally supports all companies within the 1st ASF for both green and white operations. CVW-11 is also our only asset that is capable of providing gunship, medium and heavy lift support.
• We decided to sacrifice some authenticity with the inclusion of this company, since we wanted to keep our battalion strictly a NAV/MAR task force, compromises had to be made.
• CVW-11 is the only, and best air support that is utilized by the 1st ASF
The 1st also utilizes an accurate ranking structure that is faithfully recreated to follow both the US Navy and US Marine Corps chain of command. Our ranking structure is not in place so that our members can go on power struggles, nor is it in place to induce delusions of grandeur; although you still need to uphold a level of discipline and respect, if you cannot do so, please do not sign up to join our battalion.
The 1st ASF will not discriminate based on race, age, sex, creed, religion or nationality. All prospect members and non ASF personnel are welcome on our websites; likewise they may tag along with us during our operations. Now, understand that we will not address others by rank in a game lobby or even in a game for that fact, although we may refer to a person by their rank when talking to other members within the unit or while we are communicating via the internet. The same goes for the whole ‘yes sir, no sir, aye aye sir” jargon.
Even so; you would still be expected to have respect for your subordinate and superior officers. This system is in place so that there can be a strong backbone within our unit to fall back upon whilst bringing our units organization to an even greater level. Obviously age is a factor with ‘realism units’ by all accounts and once again, the 1st ASF will not discriminate based upon a prospect members age. If the prospect member has a level maturity that is acceptable by our standards, there is no reason why he or she should not be welcomed within our unit.
Within the 1st you have a wide variety of careers to choose from each of which is called an MOS, or Military Occupational Specialty. In each branch there are different MOS' and each are essential for the success of our unit. It is essential that there is a good mix of tactics and firepower to make a sort of ‘utopian squad’ so choosing the right specialty for both you and the benefit of the 1st ASF is imperative.
