I have a modded 360 that has been banned from Live. It has the new NXE on it. The issue is that I use it mainly as a media streamer using Tversityy. Since the update it won't play AVI files as it needs a media update. I of course can;t get that update as I can;t get on live. Does anyone have any work around suggestions or know where I can get the update on the net?

Thanks

I dont know we been trying to find a way to work around that but it looks like there optional media update is locked to the console as i tryed downloading it to my non modded onto the memory card and then putting it into another console to stream with and it would not do the update from there unless i am missing something.

Thats a very good question, Maybe if someone backup his HDD and post it online, that may work.

Go to a buds house or if u have another xbox 360 put that harddrive on there and download the media update i dont know if this will work as like i said i think it is locked to the console but anyways go to xbox marketplace and go into the game addon area and under "O" there is a optional media Update download that then put that harddrive on your banned console and see if it will allow u to play the vids.

Yep, you right... I think it is in the console internal memory and not in the HDD, but give it a try anyway

Don't stream your avi files through tversity, set up your windows media player, not media center to watch your folders with the avi files. It happened to me as well, and I'm not banned. For some reason even with media center it won't stream the avi files. I think it has something to do with the player will use the proper codec and decode it before streaming, where as the center just ftp the files to the 360.
Give it a shot, I know it works, and if there isn't a tut on how to do it, I'll make one up but we should be pretty familliar with the media player by now.

You can also use the zune software to stream music, pictures and video to your 360. That is what I use and it works great.

I'm pretty sure though to play any media that requires a codec like divx/xvid you need to be online to get the media update. There was a topic here not to long ago trying to find a fix for it, I'll see if I can find it but in that case the person was able to access xbox live to download it again so I'm not sure if it would work for you.

Best Regards,

Must have misunderstood, I thought they could before the update. I'll have to re-read the post. My bad...
