This topic is for all those members who still need help with setting up a basic home network for their xbox 360.. I have already created a detailed tutorial to explain which cable is suitable for your network.

Hello!
I hope someone here can help. I recently bought an Elite console and have been racking my brains trying to get the console and my computer to see eachother so I can stream music/videos using WMP11. They are attached via a Linksys WRT54G v8.0.5 router. I can connect to XBOX Live just fine, but cannot for the life of me get the computer/console to see eachother. I have done everything I could think of, opened up all ports through the firewall and still nothing I even DMZ'd the consoles IP. I have also enabled/started SSDP Discovery Service, UPNP Device Host, and WMP Network Sharing Service through services.msc as mentioned on other forums.
What I find strange is if I ping the console through the router's Admin/diagnostics page the request fails. If I ping either of my computers through the same page, it pings just fine. I have also tried to ping the console using the command prompt and it fails as well.
When I test the PC connection on the console it gets past the network test but fails to find any of my PCs.
All devices are connected via ethernet. I also have XP Pro with SP3.
I don't know how true this is, but when I called XBOX customer service to give me a hand they said the XBOX 360 does not support SP3, so I am not sure if this would be the problem or not.
Any suggestions you can pass along would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks again,
Josh
