Idea Can anyone tell me what the catch is to this whole "burn games to the hard drive feature" is? I mean, really now. I'm probably missing some article or thread that could have answered this but, I'm not gonna backtrack over all of those sites. So, let's hear it. Why did MS leave this door open? Realistically, it could start a rash of rentals to HD and back to the store. Or, purchases returned w/receipt within 7 days after the burn...or am I supposed to Shhhhh? I'll admit it. I'm clueless. But, that's why I joined you guys in the first place back in the "dizay". To learn about this stuff.

You can copy the game to the hard drive but you need the original disk in the tray in order to load the game.

Well, of COURSE I didn't. That's why I asked WHAT the catch "is". Because, I KNEW there had to be one. So, basically, there is NO real convenience to this at all. I'm STILL getting up, pulling out the disc, inserting another from my game case, and...just to "start" the game that is already in(on) the HD??? I'm STILL handling my discs as frequently, I'm STILL at risk of that damned drive etching nice "ring" into my games, and, I have LESS HD space as a result. Hmmm... If, indeed, there is no noteable load time improvement, as I've heard, WTF? Help me understand the time and resources invested into offering this feature. I'm almost convinced that this is a "backdoor" bottleneck for a future HAMMER.
Yet, marketed as an improvement & convenience???

Hopefully it will be a backdoor, but i think the reason for doing this is because of the noise the cd drive makes. The disk will only spin when the xbox checks the disk is in there, the rest of the time the disk will not spin.

Hopefully something can be done with the King Kong game. I've seen that the code was not signed or something on the full game allowing you to use it to help exploit the xbox 360 (please correct me if i'm wrong). You would probably have to open the dvd drive in order to swap the king kong disc with another disc that has a program on it to load the other game from the hard drive???

I know nothing of these things and i may be talking crap, but it sounds good Laughing

Yeah,

I think there will be a bit of a load difference. But for games that use Unreal Engine 3 (mass effect, gears of war, etc) I bet we won't see any more texture pop in. Also GTA4 I heard has quite a load time difference and less pop in. I think it will be better for at night, cause your xbox won't wake up the family lol

Only problem is i need more hd storage. Sad Or rather we need more hd storage for the game loader option.. I think i'm going to uprade my own with hd hacker.. Microsoft needs to come out with bigger hard drives, i know that won't come cheap either.
