Well guys, I think its time I mod my xbox 360, go figure an administrator on an xbox 360 modding website wants to mod his 360 Razz Very Happy Here is my ideas

1) Blue Ghost Case with LED's

2) Talismoon Whisper Fan

3) a 360-hq sticker on the fan shroud

4) I'm still deciding whether or not to do the X-clamp replacement. I have a falcon which means I shouldn't need it but I've read a few reports of falcons getting RROD, so I'm thinking I should go with it to be safe.

Any thoughts on what I should do as for the x-clamp, and any thoughts on the mod in general
Smile

my input is, make me one.

honestly to make it cool all you have to do is throw in few dozen lights. My suggestion would be to make it shoot lazers around the room and create strobe effects. Now that would be the shit.

I wouldnt do the x-clamp replacement unless you need to. The wisper fan will help so you shouldnt have to many problem. I would also recommend that since you are opening it, I would clean your heatsinks like once a month.

Yep exactly. Very Happy I am thinking about purchasing a 360 replacement case that has hinges on it. Wes sent me a picture of one that is hinged so it opens really easy you just flip it open and you have the innards staring at you. Much better then the other replacement cases. Now if I can just find someone who sells them! Sad

After doing a few x-clamp replacements, i find they do not always work. I bought mine in October last year and it already had the x-clamp replacement but lately started freezing and i got the rrod. So i took the screws out and put the original x-clamps back on. On the underside of the motherboard I put 1 washer on each leg before putting the clamps back on, and viola, it came back to life and has been fine the last few weeks.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

If you feel you really want to do something, i would change the paste and do as i did and put 1 washer on each leg and put the x-clamps back on.

The thing with using screws is that you have to manually screw them in (of course) but you cannot ensure you have equal pressure on each one and if they are not tight enough may become slightly loose????? The clamp will pull each corner equally, and putting washers on will strengthen the tightness. That is my theory but as my sig says, it's just my opinion Smile

You can put little heatsink pads on the 4 chips underneath and as burner said get the Whisper Fan and if you like noise, get the XCM add-on fan also.

Interesting, I've never heard of washers with the x-clamp before

As for noise, it is a falcon so it doesn't make nearly as much heat, and the whole goal is to make it look cool and run quieter Smile
