Hello friends...as soon as I ask WMP 11 to share media it restarts my system...this happens with the xbox connected or not so it is probably a WMP issue but any help would be appreciated...thanx...frank from Montreal Mad

Welcome to the site Frank. Hope your enjoying the site and all we have to offer. If you have any questions feel free to ask!

That is very weird that it restarts windows whenever you set wmp11 to sharing. It sounds like WMP11 is causing the crash, do you have the newest version? Also what version of windows are you running?

This is just a guess but maybe opening some ports on your windows firewall (and router if you have one) might work, no guarentees though, I've never heard of this before.

Hi franconeus,

Welcome to the sites.

Definately sounds like a Media Player issue. I would check to make sure you have all the latest windows updates and then try to re-enable the sharing. Another solution would be to install the FREE TVersity Media Server.

Thanx frozenfire...it worked...the link was very useful...I also used the following link to do a proper rollback to WMP 10 so I could do a fresh WMP 11 installation http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/
