How is the chip going to stay in place after the soldering? I'm getting someone to install it today and I want to be able to tell him what to do , without sound like an idiot!

Thanks!

It went good! I took it to Radio Shack and they had a guy in there thet has chiped consoles before, but never the 360. He said some of those pionts, expecially the Y connection, were very fine and difficult connections. I gave him some pics I found at http://forum.xbox-scene.com/lofiversion/index.php/t579106.html and all went well.
I've backed up two of my games so far (with a lot of coasters to get that far!) and the way I'm having to do it is a pian because the only way I can find the security sector is useing the READ in XBox Backup Creator, then pulling the sec sector from that and useing ssMerger to to make my game compatible with the NME 360 chip. Now for some reason, I can't use XBC to write my game to disk. It just freezes on 'initializing drive' so I have to use this tut http://www.360-hq.com/xbox-tutorials-36.html useing the sec sector I pulled from XBC. I can't find them on the internet!?

Anyway, I might upload some pics and at least I know for myself that it actualy works! Laughing Besides, now maybe I can help somebody here in the HQ if they were to need it. Let me know how your doing if this hasn't helped.

Are you able to play your backups on Xbox Live still because as far as im aware the wire for solder point Y is to disable the network so it cant connect to Xbox Live when a backup is detected. I am assuming that the guy from radio shack did this wire since he mentioned it. Ive done a couple of NME 1.2 Installs and left points Y and X and none of my clients have had any problems on or off Xbox Live.

I have'nt tried to get on xbl. I can only get dial up and it sucks Mad !
I am having some errors you might be able to help me with though. First, my power led isn't working and I get an error E76 sometimes. But,sometimes I get the three red blinking lights. Then, most of the time, it works just fine. Confused I've checked the solder joints and they look fine. I may try to cut the y & x to illiminate those from the chip. It does this on boot up, with original game as well as with the backed up game.
My 360 hasn't gone up in smoke yet and works fine most of the time so I have'nt lost hope.

Do you have any idea what drive you have in your xbox because the last two i did both had samsung drives and you are supposed to solder a wire from point B to a nearby resistor (see attached pic) this puts the chip into samsung mode and this may have been forgotton, just a hunch. With regards to wires X and Y i'd cut them if possible also re-check the wiring with a magnifying glass for anything that might be suspect. Keep us posted on how you get on.

Just wondering if you guys could help me. I bought my 360 pre modded. I am able to back up my own games (using Samsung drive in my cpu). My question is, I would like to know what mod has been done to my box. Is the only way to take it apart and find out what drive and look for a chip? thanks

I found my problem. When I put the box back together, I knicked the X wire with one of the screws. So it was grounding out and giving me trouble codes that were unknown. Embarassed I know what it means now! ( Error E76) Everything works as it should now, and yes, I still have my X and Y connection connected. Although, a little feed back, I notice that once a backup game is inserted and the chip becomes active, it stays active untill system reboot. It would be nice if it could be turned off with the eject button. Because, I can't stream music from my pc with the chip blocking my ethernet port. (I'm not bitch'n Smile )
So, I'm going to disconnect the Y so I can stream music, but what about the the X? Is it a network feature, or does it only show you when the chip is active?

Hey terd777, the only way I would know if you had a NME360 chip, is that I have to patch my backups with the MNE Converter. I could be wrong though.sry

p.s. still looking for a good ss site

thanks for help, protocool
