I want to put the NME360 Chip in (haven't bought it yet), and I've read the tuts (which some contradicts the others, it gets confusing), but I need a little feed back. Which disk drive do you recomend for the "disk swap"( per tut 'Hotswap') and probably a dumb Question but ,you can use the same drive to burn the game down, right?
And last thing, about how hard is it to install the chip? I've read an install guide but it wasn't very clear. Is there any soldering involved? I used the solderless chip on my xbox cuz I'm no soldering pro!

Thx!

Hi Jason1123,

Welcome to 360-Hq mate.. Smile
I hope you enjoy your stay.. ehheh

Anyway, if your looking for tutorials for the NME-360 chip then check this out here..

Xbox 360 Backup using Samsung SH-D162C Drive:
http://www.360-hq.com/xbox-tutorials-36.html

This tutorial explains how to make your NME-360 Compatible backups using a SAMSUNG PC DRIVE that you can buy and install in your pC.

Normally you would need to flash your firmware to make backups but since the SAMSUNG PC DRIVE can do it i would suggest using that method as its much easier then the hotswap.

anyway, hope that helps a little.

enjoy the sites

And also, yes you would have to solder in order to install the chip, that's why most people choose to go with the standard firmware flashing mod, much less work so long as that you have the correct hardware. If you already have the 360 open, you can simply plug your SATA connection into the 360 dvd drive and turn the 360 on then turn your on your pc. If you can see the drive in the device manager, you should be able to flash it no problem. Otherwise you may have to work around some but at worst you may have to buy a pci based SATA card. Would probably be cheaper than the NME chip and be useful in the future also.

That is a good tut. What I like about the NME chip is that is runs in stealth and wont be detected by xbl. I was one of those that got banned from xbl on my xbox, and I never pirated a game. So I need something to ensure it won't happen again. So, do you think flashing the 360 drive is safe (the only tut i see is http://www.360-hq.com/xbox-tutorials-31.html )?

Back to the your tut hobbs, after the drive is flashed, the drive will accept the 360 game to be loaded to ISOBuster?

Thx for help !!! Cool

With your dvdrom drive flashed with a hacked firmware you can then make backups from your xbox 360 dvd to your pc by pluggin in your 360's dvd drive..

The easiest way is to get a pc drive so you dont need to keep pulling apart your 360 etc.

The firmware method is good but personally i prefer modchips too mate..
so i dont know what to say..

just read up what you can and learn both.

I got it now. Thanks for the help! Smile

You wouldn't know where I could find a SAMSUNG SH-D162C DVD drive anywhere? It seems everyone is sold out except for ebay and they want too much for it. I think you have a topic for asking so I'll go there and ask too.

Yes, they will all work with the FW. The last four letters describe the color of the front plate and if it's OEM or retail.
