Hi HQ'ers.. Smile

Ive been waiting for transcoding on 360 for sometime now especially without the need for a MCE machine and its finally here.. Tversity Media Server..

I first installed the Tversity Media Server only a few hrs ago and to my delight everything worked 100% first time..
http://www.tversity.com

Thats right 100%... I was streaming my wmv's, divx, mpegs etc etc direct to my 360.. (whoo hoo!)

Well, I went on installing some more software that i needed and rebooted only to find that only some of my movies would work.. (mostly the wmv's and some Xvid). No Divx at all.

I could still watch them in my Windows Media Player so i knew it wasnt a codec issue.. (well i though).

I uninstalled everything including:
- Windows Media Player 11
- Windows Media Encoder 9
- All Codecs (Divx, Xvid)

And still nothing.

I then decided to uninstall and reinstall:
- FFdshow

Once again.. Back to 100%..
So if you are having issues try reinstalling ffdshow

anyway, i thought id share my afternoon's finding's.. lol
Hope to see lots of new features on your next release.

regards,

forahobby

Tried this last night, all my original media workled but anything i tried to stream of the inetrnet didn't, images or video.

Only had a quick play last night, i'll try uninstalling FFDshow and try again.

Did you get the internet radio working?

if you want internet streaming you have to open ports on your firewall and allow Tversity full access on the firewall too..

It works fine for me.. I can stream from the net.. Smile

Thanks for the guide on TVersity hobbs, that damn thing works a treat. I've been wanting to get some net radio streaming to my 360 for some time now and your little guide pointed me in the right direction. Smile

Even got some XviD's running, although they look kinda ugly. Razz Need to try some DivX next.

You need to edit your config files.. So you can choose which bitrate and screensize you want to stream... I will attach a sample profiles.xml which i use..

Unzip this file and place this file into:
C:\Program Files\TVersity\Media Server

Make a backup of your original one too just in case.

Hope it helps some of you..

Quality is pretty dam good on my HDTV guys.. I cant complain!

especially for free.

cheers,

hobbs

So does the download correct the horrible picture? I tried streaming a AVI file and it was pretty bad on my 42" LCD.

It really depends on the source..
I have HD divx files (tv shows) and they come up fine on my 127cm HDTV.. Well sure it isnt perfect but it's not bad at all..

Im sure the more you play with the settings the output will be a bit better.

anyway, im just happy that its free.. It is useful especially when streaming my mp3's while im playing my games..

l8r all

I've just installed Ubuntu on my PC as a duel boot and have tried to find a media streamer for Linux, there is a music stream (stream360 from memory) but not one that will do video.

Does anyone know if there is a program that will allow video, images and music to be streamed from a Linux box or am I stuck with windows?

Alright, I am going to bash my brains in soon.

I absolutely, 100 percent cannot get this to work whatsoever.

Things I have done.

Installed Windows media player 11 and shut of sharing.
Installed TversityMediaServer, 0.9.9.2.
I have put movies on my C drive root and shared them , I have put them in my videos folder and shared them.

My xbox 360 will see my Tversity Media server, but when I got to videos it says I have none. In my folder I have a few xvid movies, a few divx movies. None of them show up. Mp3's show up fine. My pc has all codecs. When click on divx movies my windows media player comes up.

I have XP Pro, SP2 fully updated.
Firewall is OFF. (my xbox SEES the Tversity Media Server)

What in the 9 hells is going on.

Anyone able to help?
Ive read many forums this is the first I have posted to.

Thanks peeps, I sure hope someone can help.

hi mate,

Ok. so you can stream mp3's fine. That means your xbox 360 is reading your pc fine.. So it must be somesort of codec issue.

I would to uninstall and reinstall:
- FFdshow

If you dont have it installed get it.

Try this too:
1. Get a .wmv video file (any)
2. Get a .divx video file
3. Open TVERSITY on your pc and add a new share under video url for the wmv video only.

The reason you want to add a wmv first is because TVERSITY doesnt need to reencode this type of file for it to be played on the 360.. Hopefully the WMV gets picked up in your share first time.

Remove all other shares and only have the video url.

4. If the WMV plays move on and add a new share for the DIVX and try again.. If the filenames are not coming up there is something wrong with your firewall or something on the pc conflicting.

hope that helps a little.. Dont worry once you get it working you will love it. Lots of podcasts out there you can watch etc etc.
