It probably wont be until 6-12 months until we see anything if you wanna get logical about it. Microsoft has gotten a bit tighter and well a tad more smarter. A dev isn't going to release a hack within a month or two they need to work on the dvd drives firmware or find some solder points thats exploitable. But eventually I'd say within a year to two we'll see something but you'll more than likely need to be on a older version of the dash board.

In the mean time if you really wanna go the mod rout pick up a 360 flash the dvd drive and throw xkeys on it. 360s are dirt cheap and are still going to get ports for a good 3-5 years. And technically speaking unless you're picky as hell you wont really be that amazed by the game port. I'm not saying the xbox one has the same graphics but it's going to take them a while to be able to really take advantage of the gpu.

It'll be beautiful in time, it looks excellent now but I'd say don't worry about Xboxone hacks yet and just focus on 360 since it's going to become easier and cheaper to mod.

^^^Informed post right here.

I'll give an example. My friend sold me a white phat arcade console with no hard drive for just $50. Now is a decent time to buy. The only thing I wonder is how long it will take for modchips to decrease in price.

If jtagging is not possible, I believe the only hacks for rooting the console left are reset glitch hack I or II. From what I understand buying all the equipment for reset glitch hacking costs more than $100? If so, I personally might wait a bit longer before buying a modchip.

What do typical prices for modchips go for right now?

It can be anywhere from $20-$150. You can more than likely find someone in your county that flashes older 360s under $40. With the new slims it's a swing and a miss. You need a TX unlocked board which is pretty pricey and I think can run you $50+...I got luckly because a guy tried to kamikaze my pcb screwed it up and had to replace it with an unlocked board. But in the end I got it all set up and happy with it.

kamikaze is a method where you try to get your keys by melting a chip on the dvd drive with a soldering iron. lol

But yeah just buy a cheap phat 360 and ge tthe dvd flashed since that's the esiest method. I wanna say falcon is the board that stopped rrod but I'm not sure someone here would have to say which is the best 360 model to get.

What is a 'TX unlocked board'? I thought jtagging simply required soldering some wires to 3 special points on the motherboard and rgh was similar but requires a modchip as well?

Hmm sounds risky... From what just read here it sounds like this 'dvd key' is analogous to the EEPROM from the og xbox. The only reason people physically removed the EEPROM from an og xbox was to unban a console with a fresh unbanned EEPROM.

Essentially the dvd key ties your dvd drive to the motherboard, rather than HDD-mobo? I figured one could just use some software to extract a dvd key and copy it over to a generic SATA disk drive?

I'll take a look at which motherboard I own and get back to you. If flashing the dvd drive lets me use external hard drive or non-authorized laptop drive models for the phat drive case then I could flash the disk drive. Otherwise it seems rgh will be what I pursue.

My friend never reported any problems with his and so far the console plays fine. The noise from disk drive and fan are pretty noticeable once I boot and play 360 games so far on my phat Smile

Flashing alone wont let you use a external You need xkeys which is a $100 chip. If you have an older phat console you don't need to worry about getting a unlocked board.

I'll just post without quotes, it was starting to hurt my eyes reading our responses Smile

Ok you're saying that with the newer xbox 360 models, which are only elites or slims (I don't think the halo 4 console is considered any different from those two?) that M$ introduced some new security measures than the phat models?

Could you elaborate?

If dvd drive flashing doesn't let me use any drive I want, then RGH is the way to go. Unless, of course, it's possible to downgrade my 360 dash to 7371 easily...

The new slim models require a TX unlocked board which is a pcb replacement for the dvd drive so the keys can be detected I dont know that much xSplinter would be the guy to ask.

If you have an older arcade 360 you'll be looking at jtagging RGH is for the newer slims if you dont care about playing online and want to go all out. BUT if you just wanna play iso games just worry about getting it flashed.

I'm not 100% on if I"m right or not who knows someone may say different

Hi mate,

I am trying my best to keep XBOXONE-HQ.COM up-to-date with all the latest XBox ONE news and homebrew info. Check it out. We have a few tutorials already too.. My guess would be give them atleast 12 months minimum to find a hole.
