walking through the school at just after 5pm, ive been working to clear trees, as the caretaker is only employed part time and she only does lawns and cleaning for the 24 children that go there. i hear this rumble, like a truck in the distance, then some water splashing so i poke my head around the corner to the pool area expecting some large bird or some freaky kids playing stupid idiot, nothing, the water is literally tidal waving out the edges of the pool, i keep looking for something big in the water, and not seeing anything, im starting to wonder what the heck is going on.

the water hasnt stopped, and neither have i. its jumping out of the pool, as im looking for whats causing it, the trees start parting like a giant troll or alien ship.

i should be used to earthquakes by now Razz

never been in that situation before though it was like a scene out of a movie. noone was hurt so it was a great memory.

glad your ok mate, it was pretty scary for me in Newcastle when the big one hit back in the 90's here.. It brought the place down big time. I was in town at the time across the road from a highschool (which luckily was on school holidays) because the main building just crumbled.. If you asked me, an earthquake looks like a huge worm under the ground, well especially where i live, the area is mostly swamp and water logged.. it was crazy.. I bet you wont ever forget it man.

word of warning, rotorua smells real bad cause of the sulfur, when you get near the place everyone blames each other for farting eggs, you get used to it after a few hours - to a day, and you cant smell it much unless you really think about it.

are you going to matamata? (aka hobbiton) its close.

yeah we are about 2 hours drive from the main area where the action is happening, still slightlyfeeling some of it, the wife comes from eastern usa so shes not used to eathquakes, she was like do we go outside? do we get under the table? lol "just stay away from windows", i am used to them i grew up with them one decent (~5.0) once atleast every two years. i hate the sudden ones that feel like someone is under your house kicking your whole house up and down, or potholes on parramatta road. most of the time they are slow and rolling and you just think your more drunk than you actually are.

nz is a fault line with the east coast slowly sliding under the west, a network of volcanoes active and dormant, i was actually on one when it erupted when i was 16. i broke my hand falling over onto rocks. this recent cluster of quakes has revealed a previously unknown fault line near wellington, it has seismologists polishing their tools and going a little more nerdy than normal.

so far noone has been hurt, just some buildings not up to the sudden shake and stock thrown from shelves, mostly wine bottles and spirits.

lets just hope the largest of it has passed.

So NZ is having constant earthquakes and Rotorua stinks. Lucky this trip is free and all payed for Confused

Hey seriouslycgi is there and place or things you reckon i should do there? I know you mentioned Hobbiton which i`ll probably check out (ive never seen the movie or the LOTR movies but ill watch them before i go) and im doing the adventure stuff bungie, jet boats ect... but what else should i do there? Im not going to stay at Rotorua the whole time and ive searched the web for stuff to do but havnt found much.
Im probably gonna stay at the casino in Auckland or Hamilton for a few days but apart from that what should i do and where should i go?

And hobbs ill cruz round your place sometime soon for a yarn and hangout, ive been meaning to pop in and see ya but for the last 2-3 months those cluster headaches i used to get have come back again and life has been a living nightmare with them. Luckily they have started to fade away in the last few weeks and life is getting back to normal. But they have been so fukn painful its beyond words so i havnt been going out much except for work.

Cheers lads
