Thx to Jbrizzel for the info.

Xbox World has revealed that the next-generation Xbox (Durango) will most likely be called "Xbox" instead of "Xbox 720", and will ship with 8GB of RAM and a quad-core processor.

I really have a hard time believing these specu-facts that keep popping up over the PS4 and 720. Just looking at the supposed hardware would mean either they are gonna run like a $1000 or more easy or else M$/$ony is gonna be losing like $6-700 on every console. Just the CPU alone would run a few hundred. Even older Phenom CPUs still cost around $200. A GPU to sustain 5 years would mean something on the order of a 6950 so theres another $400, 8GB RAM theres another $100, BD player another $75.

So yeah call me a skeptic Very Happy

It's not unusual for Microsoft to NOT make money from the console. They did it with the Xbox 1, the first gen Xbox 360, etc. It cost them twice as much to make but they make their money from games for the first few years, then manufacturing costs come down.

That it would.

To be honest Id like to see consoles just die off and a return to PC for highend gaming. Im actualy going back to the basics, and selling off all my 360 stuff and all my XBOXs except the one I used for my dev work. PC gaming only from now on.

I kind of gave up on gaming all together there really hasn't been anything that amazing that released. All they can do is just sharp up graphics anymore.

On the other hand I was really impressed wth the kinect and will be getting one for my birthday I love how you can hook it up to your pc and use it as a mouse.

But they don't have the pics!

Looks like M$ is going George Bush style. Did you happen to read the article on that monitorimg software M$ patented Hobbs? XBOX meets the Patriot Act. And from the way the article you linked reads its expected to be included in the new XBOX

"A patent application by Microsoft for "Content Distribution Regulation by Viewing User" has surfaced. The filing, which was made with the US Patent and Trademark Office on April 26, 2011, and was spotted by Eurogamer, outlines a system designed to monitor viewers as they watch; ensuring compliance with licensing for music, games, and film.

The technology works by using cameras (no explicit mention is made of the Kinect or a Kinect successor) found in home and mobile devices to take still or moving images of the consumers and their environment. The system then compares the number of viewers visible in the frame with the licensing terms attached to the product; prompting watchers to purchase additional licenses (as required) for each person watching."

So I guess the idea now is not just to make you buy a movie or game but rather make you buy it 9 times if you plan on having company over.
