Couldn't get it to load. You have to load it straight from xell from a usb stick. I tried using XellLaunch but couldn't get XellLaunch to load.

I could load my xbox straight to Xell, but i'd have to go into the attic and get my rbg leads out, as my version of Xell is not supported by using a HDMI cable.

Hello all,

N64 is my favorite system, unfortunately og xbox just can't games like goldeneye or perfect dark.

1. )Is their anyway to get freestyle dash to load the N64 emulator for 360? Or do I need to use Xell?

2.) Right now when I boot Xell by hitting eject, it doesn't even detect my wireless controllers (at least the version my RGH guy put on there). So I normally get stuck at it's loading screen somewhere. How can I get it to detect my controllers and complete its load screen?

3.) Can Mupen64-360 use the same N64 roms that the surreal 64 emulator used? I think og xbox emulators used zip roms, so I might need to extract all of my og xbox ones.

4.) Does Mupen64-360 really need to be loaded from a USB or could Xell read my console internal HDD?

@halofan,

I guess this is why the original XBOX is better for homebrew than the good old 360 huh?? I hated all the extra shit you had to do with RGH/JTAG. Hope you get it sorted out..

Understandable, but the og xbox doesn't have the specs needed for N64 emulation with goldeneye or perfect dark. Once I can get everything setup, then I can see how well those two particular games run.

The original xbox console should have enough juice to pump the N64 without too much of an issue, it's the unoptimized plugins and ports by the developers working on the emulators which is limiting these games from playing like they do on a PC emulator, or the N64 console itself! Sad

Well I tried playing perfect dark on surreal64 and it went way to slow to even have a chance of enjoying it.

With goldeneye64 on surreal64, the default plugin plays the game stably, but too slow. If you use the suggested settings from xbox-hq, it will play at normal speed, but occasionally crashes as a drawback.

Have you ever used mupen64-360 Legendary? I'm surprised its developers force you to use Xell reloaded for booting it, rather than just freestyle dash.

My problem with Xell right now, is it gets stuck on various things on its boot screen. It never seems to detect my wireless controllers either.

Do you know how to get Xell to recognize my controllers Legendary?

It's because it all uses libXenon, and that library is legal, while compiling and distributing a regular Xbox executable file (.xex) is considered illegal. XeLL Reloaded is based off of linux so therefore we can compile and develop our hearts away, and not be in any trouble with MS or the law for doing it.

I was meaning to try it for the 360 although my old Xenon JTAG died on me unfortunately, but I have a RGH-able console sitting right beside me in which I have been procrastinating to mod so when I get around to doing it, that will be one of the first things I try!

About the controllers, did you try to resync the controller while booted into XeLL? Is it detected by the console at all? I wish you best luck in better improvements with the 360 N64 emulator and trying to make your controller connect with XeLL! Smile
