360 was working perfectly yesterday....

Today, it keeps freezing up...
...go to XBL for a little GRAW, it freezes up, usually before I can even select a weapon.

...go to XBL for some PDZ co-op, freezes up right before mission starts.

...try GRAW single player mission, freezes right before the mission starts.

...DVDs seem to play OK; I'm about 15 minutes into a movie without problems.


... I tried turning off the unit and letting it cool down... no joy.


Any ideas????????????????

How long is the warranty on U.S. Xbox 360s????


BTW, it played through the entire movie no problems... about 2 hours.

The warranty is 3 months for the U.S. Xbox 360s, that sucks if you ask me. Mad

REALLY???? Only 3 months?!?!? That DOES suck! I figured it was 6 months, which would be expired anyway.


So what is the consensus? To use my best Battlestar Gallactese, is my 360 FRACKED????

Isn't that terrible, a year would be more reasonable. I can't figure out why your 360 only freezes with games and not movies. Confused Give me some good news and tell me that it stopped doing that, good luck Porsche.

I think "a day a dollar" would be fairer.... $400 Xbox 360? 400 day warranty.

Slightly less worse news... I just tried it again (Coffee plantation, XBL co-op mission, only myself playing)... this time I was able to select a weapon and RUN almost past the buildings at the start point before it froze... it seems to only freeze once the mission starts to get underway, not before.

More details on the freezing up... the video freezes, no sound... there are several (about 30) vertical dotted lines... sometimes a few of the rows will move down the screen like falling snowflakes.

I guess the DVD drive is OK, since movies play OK.... HDD problem???? MB problem??????

Looks like your gpu is overheating, if you haven't opened it I guess it's time to and replace the thermal paste with some good stuff like artic silver.
