Some of you may remember the contest over at overclock3d.net that I mentioned here a few weeks ago, and invited you to come and sign up for. Many of you probably did not bother, Some of you did.
Well they were giving away 3 high end rigs, 50,000 or so people entered and holy hell, I WON!
I won the 2nd place rig today. I just need to work out getting is shipped from the UK to California, My current computer is 7 years old and in pieces, literally. I am greatfull to the guys at overclock3d.net for doing the competition.
Here is a video of the rig I won, shows the rig and parts in detail, benchmarks and some game play testing. The luck is with me today, I am going to go buy me a lotto ticket tonight!

Ya, IF i can get it, Do not know if I will be able to afford the shipping. UPS is out of the question, I looked it up and it was nuts.
Anyone know of a cheap way to ship from the UK to the US. I do not care if it take a month to get here on a slow boat.
Any Ideas?

and what a rig it will be, hehhe..
Since you won it and it's probably worth over $1000 USD i would pay $100-$150 to get it shipped.. Maybe a little more since it weighs alot but it would be worth it. _________________________________________________________ HQ Network:

Ya dude, I looked it up on UPS first, and the lowest quote was like $410 USD. Holy cow! But I think I found a company that might work, they basically buy up shipping space in bulk from companies like DHL and FedX, for a huge discount, then offer to ship your stuff for a bit of a proffit for them but still way under what It would be to go it direct with the company. Looks like I can get it shipped (depending on ammount of insurance) for somewhere between $112 and $145 which I is much better, I can swing that, for $410 I would have to just auction the thing off to someone else or something.
When I get it Ill post a few side by side pics of the new rig and my current rig, I think you will be amazed to see what I have been getting by with lately.
I Never win anything but have been very lucky for the last month or so. I entered 4 contests and won 3 of them. WTF right?
There was the google Tv contest which I know I would have won but they lost a bunch of entrants videos including mine.
I stumbled across a web page that was offering a 10 free codes for the new Black Ops map pack. It was a caption contest, I entered a dumb prostate related caption and won the Map Pack code.
Then the guys at OC3D had a graphics contest to promote the computer contest, and I won. And Im no Picasso, let me tell you. So that was a blessing, won a few Kingston flash drives and some other swag.
Then this contest with the computers, 3 computers, over 50,000 entries and a random number generator spits out my name? WTF.
One thing is for sure, Im not passing up legit contests online anymore.
If I win the Lotto, Ill donate something to the 360-HQ. Maybe donate some new Xbox's, games and crap so we can run some contests.

yeh that's the price i was expecting.. ive had tonnes of stuff shipped from all over the world like drumkits, consoles etc etc and they normally always charge me around $150-200 max ever.
Glad to hear you got it sorted and cant wait to see some pics of your old and new rig..
You said your unlucky??? well, i think your luck has changed my friend.
Just let us know about all these competitions you find.. hehhe. I have no doubt there would have been plenty of people from HQ signing up for the competiton..

I would try to see if they can send usps as i sent hobbs a drumset that ups said $500 and usps sent it for $110 and it was a big box so i think they should be able to ship usps as china and them can i dont see why they cant but anyways congrats bro. _________________________________________________________ The one the only Scarface!!

Ill give that another look, I would need them to ship from the uk, not sure how that works the other way round. And the guys I won it from require it to be picked up. If using USPS, Even if they operate there I would probably need a separate currier to get it from their to the post. Not sure But I am going to check it out.

seems to me like a lot of stipulation for them to just send it i would contact them and get a hold of all there shipping carriers over there and see what one is cheapest. Like i said at most should cost $100- max $200 specially when i can ship a box that is bigger then what they are going to put it in for $125 to hobbs if not the same distance or more. _________________________________________________________ The one the only Scarface!!
