I am very new to the entire flashing and hacking world. I have been using a modified system for quite some time.

I am very curious about something. Since Microsoft has released the entire AP 2.5 pain in the butt I am unable to play the current games. I currently have a Hitachi drive installed and from what I understand there may be no firmware release for this drive. My question is this; Can I simply swap the Hitachi drive out for another manufacturer, flash the new drive with Ixtreme LT+ and be back in business. I am understand there is some patching involved. I am not concerned about connecting to live a my system is already banned. I don't know if swapping the drive will also require spoofing or not. I am not really sure how to change the drives.

Any guides or tutorial that I can read will be greatly appreciated. I want to educate myself on this entire topic.

Hi Shellystroop,

Welcome to the HQ.

What you are talking about doing is called SPOOFING..
You basically need to do this if your dvdrom drive breaks anyway, otherwise you need to return it to microsoft to get fixed.

Here is a tutorial i believe will help you:

How to Replace/Spoof a Xbox 360 DVD Drive

Yes, unless you are planning on going online. Once MS detects a flashed/spoofed drive you will be banned instantly. Although you will probably still be banned if you go online with modified firmware anyway. But if you plan to spoof a DVD drive, just do as ForAHobby said.
