i dont really know. xbox360 has major success now but the ps3 probly has somethin up its sleeve. im still buyin the ps3 and wii(gayest name ever btw). wii is definetely not going to win but we have to wait and see if sony or MS come out on top _________________________________________________________ XBOX

I think the Wii actually stands a chance to win, this is how I see it, most people will have a wii, those that don't have a wii will be allowed to play with other's wii's it'll just be fun fun fun. _________________________________________________________

i think the Wii is going to be either #2 or first. Why do I think that?
look at the Nintendo DS- its completely different from the PSP- it sure isnt a graphics or multimedia power house, but its the new and refreshing way you play games that makes it so fun. This month the Nintedno DS (both the old one and the DS lite) Accounted for 70% of hardware sales (I should state this is japan's sales) And it's still beating the living crap out of the PSP (or peice of shit portable- like the Peice of shit 3)- it has outsold the PSP 3 million units.
What does this say about the average consumer? Gameplay is wanted over graphics. I know, your prob. thinking- DAMN IT, LOKI WHAT DO YOU KNOW!-
well, i too am a graphics whore (thats why i have a 360) but i also have a PSP and DS- the DS is way better, it's price is WAY more friendly- and thus, the Nintendo Wii is going to have it too. I mean lets look at it this way- Peter Moore said something along the lines of "You can buy a Wii and a 360 for the price of a ps3)- that is crazy.
A friend of mine recently made a valid point- IF you want the xbox 360 to have everything the PS3 has you would have to dish out $600.00,
The console -$399, WiFi adapter- $99.99 - and HD-DVD (Given it is $99.99, which is the LEAST it would sell for) - thats $600 big ones, now lets not forget buying games for your new system. It's costly.
But if the Nintendo Wii retails for $249.99 (Nintendo HAS said that it will retail for less than the Xbox 360 Core pack)- with games being Under $50 (This was also confirmed by nintendo, the only exception is unless it's bundled with an item)- and the virtual console (Come on, who dosent love the classic's- i know shark does!) its obvious, from a price concious user base , the Nintendo Wii, offering a new innovating form of gameplay will lure Non-gamers to the platform. I mean, Nintendo has had its fair share of failure (Virtual boy, R.O.B) But lets look at it's credintals-it seem's all the Good idea's Nintendo does are copied by the competition, beacuse they dont have the balls to do these things.
Nintendo was the first Video game company to utilize an Analog stick (Which is standard for Consoles now) for the N64- Sony soon released there Duel shock controller, and Saturn bundled there analog controler with Nights (ahh..the memories). So this is one thing everyone copied from them- The second s Nintendo's attempt for Hapitic Technolgy (For those of you who dont know, thats "touch" In greek- anything that simulates feel and responsive tech.'s) Nintendo came out with the Rumble pack addition for there N64, in order to have players simulate a feeling in the game. Sony added this feautre after viewing it's major success, its been industry standard to have built in rumble since.
Nintendo was the first company to create 1st party Wireless controllers for there system (Game Cube), after the major success of the Wave bird, 3rd party companies feasted on the $$$ to be made on wireless control's- agian, this have proven to be industry standard from the begining of the 2005-2010 Generation of consoles.
Lastly, Nintendo was the frist company to put WiFi capabilities into its console (the Nintendo DS)- Which was followed By Sony on there first and poor attempt on the Hand held market (The Pecie of Shit Portable)- and Sony seeing the value in that- has decided to incorperate it into there $600 verson of the console.
I think at this point it would be hard to tell if the 360 will beat the living hell out of Sony's PS3- there ALMOST the same damn console- people say the PS3 has better graphics- and while they are a bit more improved, i fail to see something the 360 doesnt have. I was impressed by the Kill Zone demo, not beacuse of the graphics- but beacuse of the animations, the AI interaction with the Enviorment, and the action on screen- not beacuse of the graphics. If that is what actual gameplay will be like- then i will be impressed, but for all im concerned- its Renderd game play.
I still stand by my statement though that sony is imatative, not innovative- there are takeing Xbox's Live service and Nintendo's motion control, then throwing in raw power to have the both of best worlds.
With its high price, and blu-ray (Who wants to buy a movie they already own for more money?) its destined to fail- or maybe it will land ontop just beacuse ignorant people see the word SONY on it.
I guess one thing is for sure- what ever format the Adult MOvie Companies choose (HD-DVD or Blu-ray) It's obvious will be the winner.

i agree the adult industry has ALOT to do with who buys bluray or hddvd... and in 2007 and 2008 people may base their console buying decision on the supported media format...
but this year, nobody knows which way things will go... anything could happen with that format war.
my bet on the console war (without consideration of media support) says that the winner needs to have the HD graphics (sorry Wii) and it also needs to have the most "fun game playability". ive heard about a dozen developers compare programming for the 360 and the ps3, and every single one of them says that the 360 is a breeze but coding for that cell processor is a real b1tch. its going to cost devs 3x as much to make ps3 games just because of the time and effort involved, and microsoft is selling devkits to ameteur programmers for $100.
my bet is the 360 will win, just because there will be tons more games available... full size games will be awesome, and there will also be a constant supply of smaller downloadable Live games as well. _________________________________________________________ .

Even if Blue Ray were to win I think Mr. Gates played it smart. There is nothing Sony can do about M$ using a Blue Ray or even a dual format in its external drive somewhere down the line. All they have to do is go through a manufacturer like Samsung that will provide them in bulk. It should not cost much more than what external drives are going for at the time on the PC Isle at Wal-Mart.
Heck I wouldn't be suprised to see an external recorder with video input before 360's run is up. _________________________________________________________
