I am probably a lot older than most of you on here but just bought my first XBOX on Black Friday as my present to myself. I had never even played one but liked the idea of getting Netflix etc. I bought an XBOX 360 Arcade and to be honest I don't really know the difference from one to another!!!
Anyway, I have XBOX Live Gold and was going to download a free game and it said it was full. I haven't downloaded anything but what I needed to watch Netflix....so what is wrong? Do I need to add something? Buy something else? I am totally confused.

If you bought an arcade back, you got ripped off. M$ should be sued for selling them. You now need to go back out and spend more money on a hard drive, there is not enough space on the memory stick to store shit. Well, that is just WONDERFUL !!!! Is there a certain HDD I have to get or does it matter?
You have to buy one of microsofts hard drives. There is a 60 gig model and a 120 gig model. Only their hard drives will work. They look like this picture below.
The 120 gig model cost $170 when I bought mine, I don't know if they have dropped since then. _________________________________________________________

If you have only just bought it, take it back and demand they take it back and let you pay the difference for the 60gig package as you were not fully informed of the restrictions (like you won't be able to play many games because the memory card will fill up quicker than a portaloo at a festival). There are some games that you won't be able to play at all because the file size of the game save will be larger than that of any memory card.
I don't know what it says on the box, but if they have not told you of the restrictions it is illegal, so i'm not sure how they get round it. _________________________________________________________ Opinions are like arse holes, everybody has one and your's stinks.

First off you might be surprised by the ages of some of us gamers on this site, I know we have guys at least into their mid 50's And I am no spring chicken myself. There is no age limit on gaming, and these young kids that talk smack about old gamers will most likely still be gaming for the rest of their days.
Yes, you need a hard drive to download just about anything. I also purchased a arcade model because it was cheaper and I already had a hard drive from my broken xbox, so I just put my old hard drive on my new arcade model.
You can maybe take it back and exchange for one with a hard drive, I still use a 20 GB hard drive, it does me just fine for the few demos I download, game saves and I also use the xbox for netflix, And I have to say I love netflix on the xbox.
I am not sure if you can still get the 20gb xbox systems, it may be much cheaper than the 60gb if they are still available.
You can also maybe try ebay for a new or used hard drive. You might find a great deal there, but I would steer clear from buying any electronics from a seller based in HONG KONG even if it looks like an amazing deal. as more often than not you will end up with a piece of shit knock off. Stick to local sellers on ebay.
Post back to let us know what you ended up going with and if you need any further assistance.

Craigs list can also be a cheap alternative. _________________________________________________________

Yes. this is totally FRUSTRATING and wrong to sell it like that....missing a good portion of what it needs. It was a spur of the moment thing and had I done my research I would not have bought the Arcade. I doubt I can return it since it came with a game and movies and all have been played.
I called and Game Stop has some used HDDs I may check on them tomorrow.

Thanks for the advice. I won a 60 GB on Ebay for a pretty good price and yes it is not from Hong Kong but from the US, if I hadn't read it here I would have been ordering the wrong one !!!
I have been reading on here and not quite understanding all the information, mod ( I assume that means modified) and being banned. Makes me worry that I may do something wrong and not even know it.
I have questions about Xbox live, I am not sure I understand what all you can do there....download demos, buy games, but there are free games as well??? Is there an easy way to find the free games? Sorry too many questions.
