Now... I tend to disagree... I like the new stuff... it may not sound the same but even tool went through that same kind of transition, Lateralus is EXTREMELY different from Opiate, AEnima and Undertow. And they made another leap with 10,000 Days. And I cannot say there is one song I hate by Tool... But there are a FEW Metallica songs after the Black Album that suck majorly, ("Where the Wild Things Are") and the drums on St. Anger did sound like s**t, but if you can get around the loose snare drum, the album wasn't all that bad...

WOOT! Now... Ima' stop writin' before I drag on and make an essay...
