What can I say..Im in love. I was planing on Raid-0 2 160 gb ssd's for my next gaming rig, hell maybe I will just go Raid-0 X 4 of the cheaper 80 gb cards.
That video was fantastic!
Hey Frozen... I just checked out the samsung site and one of the videos there stated that the life span is arround 100 Years! with normal usage.
Thats if you are not dropping them off of 3 story buildings, but even then they will still work!
SEE THE VIDEO HERE
So far I have heard only good things about ssd (except for price so far)
Durability
Speed
Uses 1/5th the power of a HDD
Generates almost NO heat.
and speed is constant, on a drive it changes depending on whether the info is toward the outside of the disc or inside.
Dead silent
Etc..
Also, I read an article recently done by some technical institute somewhere predicting what the next 360 might incorporate. They mentioned SSD as a good possibility, Also that the disc drives will remain and not go totally download games, a big part do to retailers that make profit off of the actual disc sales. Stores like wall mart love game sales because they get good profit per space they take up in the store, if they don't get to sale games then they will want a much larger profit off of the sale of consoles. Any way getting off topic.
One concern I have is how well the rest of the PC can handle the massive dump of info coming from the SSD's. Especialy in gaming using raid-0.
Worried about stutter and lag.
I have heard about Raid Controller Cards? supposed to help smooth the flow of info from the drives? Anyone know anything about those?
The only thing I don't like about them is their huge price for the small space.
I would wait until the price drops to get them personally. _________________________________________________________

yeah darth they are quite expensive for a small space - this is why i was going to get 1 ror 2 for my boot drives then have a raid set up of 3 500gb hd giving me 1tb, plus whatever i have for my boot drive probably a couple of 80's to save cash dependentat on the price point
