I bought Western Digital External Hard Drive, it's in FAT32 format, I put video files on it, but the xbox doesn't detect it when I plug it in via USB port. The xbox360 only shows portable device when I go to music media or pictures, but if I go to Video the portable device is not listed in the menu. Why is that? and what can I do?

I head that if I format it via MacDriver to apple format then the external HD will be detected by the xbox360 when i choose video, and I will be able to watch avi files from it. Can anyone confirm this? I know there is a tutorial posted on here on how to do that, and I followed it but, once I formatted my extrenal HD, my computer no longer detected the external HD via USP port. So what do I do?
Thanks

I'm not at my xbox right now but when you go to the media blade and then click on videos I'm pretty sure you then press x to change source, then you can change it to portable usb device. It also sounds to me like your video may have an incompatible codec with the 360. If chainging the source doesn't work I would try making a disc with some videos on it and trying it through that. I have not yet used macdrive because I haven't gotten an external hard drive yet, but I'm pretty sure to access you files in windows you have to do it through mac drive because the mac formatting is not visible through windows without the use of macdrive.

Also Forahobby has told me that macdrive works wonders and he prefers using it in combination of an external hard drive over streaming (windows media player, media center, or TVersity) any day

Let us know if this solves it, if not we'll try and figure something out for you.
