frozen fire thanks bro you helped out with some questions and i did ask ms last night after this post regarding some questions as well. anyway i could of quoted you but it would of been long. but i do have a redeisgned power brick two plugs insted of 3 and it does say 175w i don't want to open it up to see the internals lol. and my eite was made on 2-20-08 so its a falcon. and as far as the transfer cable that too was useful thanks again.... only thing now i gotta figuire out is the new eternet cable is shorter and it is 26awg while the older cable that came with my premium is longer with 24awg, the new cable has some metal stuff around the clip as well.

yeah you can still use your old ethernet cable as they are inter-changable (I use my old one on my falcon and it works fine)

lol maybe i didnt make my self clear, my old cable has a awg of 24 and my new cable has a awg of 26, now my question is what is better? the lower the awg number or the higher the awg number? i could care less about lenght, but im assuming the thicker the cable the better?

I was looking into it and can't find a performance difference. What it stands for is american wire guage, the higher the AWG the lower diameter it will be. This is what I found on it

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_wire_gauge

Also found this, looks like AWG 26 is CAT5 and AWG 24 is CAT5E, more info here http://www.tmb.com/faqethernet.htm

Quote:

What is the typical construction and number of wires used in Ethernet cables?

Whether the conductor is solid or stranded, twisted pair Ethernet cables are constructed with 8-wires, assembled into 4-twisted pairs.
Conductor size – CAT5; 26 awg
CAT5E; 24 awg
CAT6; 23 awg (250 MHz bandwidth)
The pairs are laid-up, in the case of a UTP cable directly under the outer jacket. In the case of FTP and SFTP the pairs are laid-up, the applicable shields are applied over the assembled pairs and an overall jacket applied.
ProPlex PCCAT5P is a 4-twisted pair, 26 awg stranded, foil and braid shield cable.
ProPlex PCCAT5EP is a 4-twisted pair, 24 awg stranded, foil and braid shield cable.

i bought it off costco.com so yea its sopposed to be brand new factory sealed. the box and its contents look perfect factory sealed and the plastics wraped around the 360 look new too up to the point where if i put my hand and push towards the case it feels slight more loose then my other 360. and the other 360 premium has been open by me and closed back together by me.

so im thinking somewhere where it was built the case wasnt put together well?

as far as the cable goes for what i understand based on the 2nd link our new cable that is shorter has a STP shield while our old longer cable doesnt but is known as a cat5e meaning its deisgned to handle more bandwidth.... screw these cables i might just buy a small cat6 on clerance lol

im cosern about the elite the long run i dont want to open it and break the seales... then again i guess the major set back is the small white marks.

Lower awg is always better. The lower the gauge (awg) the thicker the wire. Now the only time this is going to make any difference is if you are running a cable for a long distance.

Hey guys,

Just a bit of an update. I opened up a friends xbox to clean it (its a zephyr) and it has the heatsinks that are commonly found on falcons (the aluminum tri-way one) So I think the only way to for sure tell is the power supply.
