All my used game/pawn shops and ebay go about $40-$45 for a NES these days.

As for microsoft knowing, it depends on what you do inside your xbox. If you solder stuff onto the board, break off the top metal cover, put a new laser into the dvd drive, then they will know. If you open it up and do a fan mod or a addon fan mod you should be fine as long as you keep the stock fan to put in later.

You know this for a fact because you have actually sent in a system for repair that you opened up and did some stuff too or are you getting this information from your buddy or a website? Because unless you have experienced it for yourself then you truly don't know that they will still fix the system once opened. The deal is Darth that we don't want to be telling people hey it is okay to open your system and do all this stuff too it and if it breaks no big deal Microsoft will still fix it if you keep your sticker clean and nice. It tends to piss people off when they find out the exact opposite. So unless you yourself have opened a system and did some stuff and then put the sticker back on and sent it in to Microsoft and they still fixed it please don't tell people to do this stuff. It just makes us look bad and like I said pisses people off when they find out it is not true.

My neighbor did a tallismoon whisper fan mod to his and it got RROD. He did take the sticker off the right way like i did. He put the stock fans back in, put the stickers back on it, and send it in. 3 Weeks later his xbox was back and it was working fine. Its got the fan mod in it now and its working great.
