there are other tools available which i believe it is possible to upgrade but for the moment M$ have locked the xbox 360 to 20gb only i believe so you would be wasting your time anyway.

If you wait until they release their 100gb drive (if and when they do) then and only then would i suggest you even look into it..

sorry i couldnt be of more help.. I had better edit that tutorial as it is very old and i know for a fact it wont work myself..

It seems like I read on one of the forums recently that you could use a larger hd (the BEV's from WD I think) and format it to use in the 360 but it would only recognize the first 20 gigs.

thats exactly right... So why would you want to waste money on a 100gb when it only support 20gb right now.. Sure its something for the future but god knows when..

A bit of a waste right now..

I don't think this was ever verified, he said he was going to post back, but he never did, also the model number he gave led me to an IDE laptop hard drive, not a serial ata one. I'm going to say this was a fake.

Yup yup..

Well, it didn't rest long. M$ announced the new Xbox model with a larger hard drive. Maybe we'll be able to update our drives soon after all? I'm hoping it's a general Live patch that allows the console to recognized the new larger sized drives and not some process that only works if you buy the new drive from M$.

I would think a Live patch will update the ability to read the new drives. Of course it may be something proprietary on the new drives themselves. My plan is to try the "broken" method of simply ghosting the old 20GB to a bigger drive once they patch for the new drives. if that doesn't work, then I'll be getting my hands on a new drive and seeing if simply doing a bit by bit copy of that drive will work. Will return the M$ drive after the copy works. Save the image and use it for whenever I need to press a new drive.

Seems almost to easy...so I am sure there will be a curve in there somewhere.

tbh for now I am not fussed on getting a larger hardrive. I do not download enough movies/demos for the real need. I stream my music fro my PC with Zune so I will buy/hack a larger hard drive when homebrew comes as I will want space for Divx on XB360MC
