Techland has released updated information and new artwork for "Dead Island", an upcoming survival-horror FPS (first person shooter) for the
PC and Xbox 360.

"Dead Island", a non-linear FPP (First Person Perspective) title, is a mix
of intense action and chilling horror environs in an engaging, realistic
story, Techland said.

As the company describes the story, a couple flying to the vacation of
their dreams is torn apart by a violent plane crash. Then starts a
harrowing quest to find the lost wife.

The player enters a dark world of a devastated tropical paradise
plunged into chaos. It's a place where the word "dead" gets an entirely
new meaning. Players have no option but to face the nightmare, and
fight for survival. They get to explore the darkest regions of the island
and the secrets hidden within as they fight their way through.

"Dead Island" allows players to use anything from their surroundings as
a weapon; make decisions that influence the entire world around; and
take advantage of opponent behavior and game physics.

The key features of the game include: realistic hand-to-hand combat
showing detailed damaged skin, muscles, and bones; advanced artificial
life system allowing taking advantage of instinctive behaviors of
opponents; non-linear game play giving players a chance to make game
progress in their own way; and complete interactive environments
allowing players to use all elements of the environment as weapons.

According to Techland, "Dead Island" is a game where 'survival is the
player's main goal'.
