I wanted to respond to the news story forahobby put up on Project gotham racing 4 and how the developers have to leave content out because lack of space on the DVD media they have to work with.

Here's a link to the original story..

DVD size limiting Project Gotham Racing 4:

I know this has to piss the developers off, I remember when I used to make custome maps for Delta Force Extreme that we were limited to 1200 objects to place in the map, This sounds like alot but it gets used up fast when you start placing stuff like plants and trees to make lvl look and feel more real.

As a gamer if im playing a racing track set in the summer and then play it again set in the winter, I want it full out winter, not just darker and some color changes, because there is not enough room on the disc for the data.

Why not use 2 disc's, I have played PC games that have used up to 4 discs to get all the info, some can just be downloaded to the hard drive, they could use one main disc for when you are playing and a second disc that you use to download the extra content needed. So why not do this than lowering the standards of the game, putting out something less than what you wanted to put out.

Hard headed Bill gates is not helping things on this ither with his refusal to even consider having anything to do with Blu-ray, Check this out... The developers of Resistance fall of man,,stated that they were placing over 20GB of info on thier game disc, and thats compressed data. they stated that even a dual layer HD-DVD was not sufficient for what they wanted to put out. I would hate to see games limited do to sticking with media they did not have to.

Oh well, I just had to rant and get it out of my system.

Yup, that could be a solution but personally why dont they start forcing HDD's for certain games.. Its just ridiculous.. Everyone will want one in the end anyway once they fill up their shitty memory cards.

Lol marketing tool if you ask me. It will be in the form of downloadable content that comes at a price. Anyone want to take up that bet?
