1) first you will need a set of Torx screwdrivers
2) carefuly unscrew the 4 screws (one screw is hidden under the silver microsoft logo)
3)carefuly pull the casing off around the hdd
4)you will again need your Torx Screwdrivers to un-screw the 4 black screws
5) now carfuly remove the metal casing around the hdd (should just slide off)
6)pull the front off the case down and put your fingers on either side of the hdd (make sure you dont touch circit board)
7) Now open up your pc and locate SATA port or if you have an external hookup
8)now place the hdd you removed from the xbox in the pc (i put my pc on its side and placed a dvd case on the floor and the placed the hdd circit board up on the case
9)now turn on your pc and press f2 (button differs on diffrent makes and models of pc)
10)select onboard/Built in perifrals, then make sure SATA is turned on and set to RAID (if applicable)
11) you will now need the bigger hdd drive pluged in to the pc
12) load norton ghost and tell it to make backup from xbox hdd to new hdd can take a hour or so
13) once the copying has finished power down pc
14) put the new hdd back in the xbox hdd case and screw it back together
15) place hdd in to of xbox and enjoy your bigger hdd
know problems
1) 100gb hdd can cause problems such and screen errors saying your xbox need tech support

So you just plug your magic sata cable into this new hard drive? Being that the hard drive you said you got to replace it was PATA not SATA, I'm going to have to call BS on this, I just wanted to see how far you would go with it, thanks for replying back, it's just way too unbelievable that a simple application like norton ghost would successfully copy sectors that are out of the normal operating range of the drive heads (the ones where the drive signature are), it's also very difficult for me to believe that even if it did copy the signature and such, that this 20gb signature would even work on a 100gb hard drive as it's made for that certain model and serial number'ed 20gb. If you can provide some screenshot of your 360 showing that you have over 20gb free space them I might believe you, right now it just doesn't seem credible at all. _________________________________________________________
i posted this tutorial in the tutorial section like a month back. ive heard that other people have also done this. i havent personally because i dont have a sata motherboard. but with the new usb to sata converters i might be able to. _________________________________________________________ XBOX

I still call bs on this, as both hard drives he has said he's used (different ones each time btw) has been IDE/PATA whichever you prefer to call them, thus he couldn't hook a sata cable up to them, much less connect it back to the 360.
I'm sure he just found this guide somewhere on the net, and decided to repost it here and look cool, no need to do that, just add your games to your game list, rate some the games out there, and then just chat about the great system that is the xbox 360. No need to make stuff up. You would have had a chance of making me believe if you had said something about going using some type of low level hardware interaction with the hard drive, getting the signature off of the drive, then putting that signature onto the 360 drive, but that signature is in a natively unaccessible spot, and it's very difficult to get to.
This has been confirmed that it is possible to upgrade your drive, but only to another 20gb drive, and it also is very difficult to do and you have to have specialized hardware that can directly interact with the hard drives. So far that's the only type of upgrade, 20gb for 20gb, i guess that could be somewhat useful but with how difficult it is, it's not feasible and you might as well buy your own from wal-mart if you have a core system. _________________________________________________________

Hey!
I modded an 360 today! I got an old applex and soldered it somewhere on the board and the 360 said. "You have installed an AppleX, Have Fun" then it said "As were nice we already made a port of XBMC for you."
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! WHAT BS!

Nothing special, they are relesing 3rd party hard drivesa that hold like 200gigs+ for the 360... If they mod a 360 to where you can unlock achievements by the push of a button (more software side) then Id be impressed (prob need a new chip like they did with the oprignal xbox)
