My wife has finally given me permission to purchase a PS3 or a 360. I have been racking my brains out trying to figure out which to get.

Here are the Pros and Cons as I see them:

360-

Pros- Current games I want (Halo 3, Gears of War, etc.). It is easy to burn games on with my PC because they fit on a DVD. 360 is more popular, so I could play with more of my friends.

Cons- The 360 is an inferior system to the PS3. The PS3 has the capabilities of making highly superior games in the future, and if that happens I would want to be a part of it.

PS3-

Pros- Better system (higher quality game capabilities in the future), Blu-Ray DVD player, free online gaming.

Cons- No Halo 3 (which most people will have), More expensive, I do not have a blu-ray DVD burner so it would be harder to make my own copies.

I know that you guys are likely to be biased for 360 but if money is not an issue which system will make me/someone happier in the long run?

Hey man, just to let you know the PS3 isn't actually more powerful than the 360, they really are pretty much on par. I've talked to a few PS3 owners and they aren't too happy with the purchase, I don't think you really need to buy a PS3 until later this year when some of the big titles start hitting. Even when that happens it's possible that a few of them will jump ship and come to the 360 also. Right now there are a ton of great games for the 360. I say buy the 360, and save that money and spend on games instead. The only games that I would even be interested in so far on the PS3 is Resistance, and the upcoming MotorStorm. Otherwise most titles that are on the PS3 or coming soon to the PS3 are also on the 360.

For the best scenario I would buy the 360 now, and wait until the next "honey may i" to get the PS3, you'll have much more fun I believe on the 360. Also the $50 for live is about the same as what a single game will cost. This allows you to get the most of every game on the system for an entire year, it's by far the best $50 you can spend on the 360.

Yeah I bought a few PS3s to re-sell and the guys at EB were all saying the same thing. The 360 supposedly (according to them) has a better graphics set up in it than the PS3. I think other than the rare PS3 only title the 360 is the way to go.

If money is not an issue i would suggest 360.. I have lots of mates who used to be ps2 and ps3 fanboys but once they seen the difference in quality between the 360 and ps3 including xbox live marketplace, demo's, gamercard etc etc etc (i could go on).. they through their playstation's out.. lol

Also, ps3 is a joke at this stage from what ive read.. As if you would want to pay near twice as much for a console just so you can have blu-ray.. lol

The only game i would even think about purchasing a PS3 for would be gran turismo as it is a long time favorite of mine.. Apart from that i think youll find PS wont have near as many PS3 ONLY titles.. They will more then likely come out on all platforms..

just my 2 cents.

After doing some research, I'm leaning now towards the 360.

Since the 360 only uses about 1/3 of it's power even in Gears of War, I don't think there will ever be an issue of the PS3 ever being really better. They are both powerful. The 360 has some edges over the PS3 that I think make it more powerful such as the configuration of ram. A full chunk of 512 RAM verses the PS3's spit 512mb making only 2 256mb. You see the PS3 is 2 separate areas and can not be combined. That to me spells a limitation the 360 does not have.

That matters. You you see a difference in your PC in what it can do and how fast it is based on not only the CPU but also how much RAM it has. Not enough RAM, then you need to use the drive as RAM, making things crawl. SO allot comes into play but I hope you see my point.

Big worlds, many players and assume graphics will need lots of RAM.

Developers will find this a better situation with the configuration of the 360.

That is just one edge the 360 and it does have over the PS3.

If I was rich I would get both. Right now, I have the 360 and a 1080P 62" HDTV. I can tell you first hand that the 360 is no slouch and you will not be disappointed with a 360 if you like to game.

At the moment there is too much disappointment with the PS3. One of my friends got one, yet he continues to play the 360 and buy games for it because the PS3 has not delivered as of yet on the gaming at least not in the way 360 did when it was released and there is no question that the 360 is delivering on excitement and quality gaming.

LIVE, oh my, try it and then try the others as words can't describe how cool xbox live is.

I decided to go with the 360. In the end it came down to the games I wanted. There are no games for the PS3 that I would "miss", but I know I would really miss Halo 3, Gears of War, & Star Trek (no geek jokes about the star trek). I just bought my 360 off of ebay and now I'm looking in to what I need to do from here.
