I think its due to the fact they don't want to make it easy to transfer anything you want. Ie, save games, Xbla games, content you paided for basically. So they edit those features to deter users from trying. From a business stand point pretty smart thinking.

That sleek black look was also applied to the xbox360 debug kits. I know some guy who got one and it came in black but the controllers and such came in standard white.

I think it depends on how they sell. If they fly off the shelves they will probably not be too limited, if at all. But i think that if they dont go anywhere, they will just stop production of them, and they will become very limited.

Sorry for bumping this but I was wondering what exactly is the Elite going to give us? Besides a larger HD, HDMI, and it's Black? Sounds kinda like M$ is taking us for a fool. The HDMI is pretty good but only a few types of TVs have the HDMI port because it's a new technology.
And on a rant here: Who's idea was it to make a white console? It gets dirty way to easy. And I've noticed that I get all sorts of junk (like dirt and what looks like dead skin) in the grips of the controls. I bet there is alot more in my normal X-Box but it's black so I never see it. _________________________________________________________ At ease soldier.

you are right on the money, which 2 of the 3 are pretty substantial things for some folks.
the 120 gig drive is for people who like to download movies, media files, etc..., the hdmi is important for people who do have a hdmi port on their tv because its the highest quality cable and connection you can use, and its smaller than component / composite. and the black is a big deal to me because im big on the way my box looks and i think the black box looks a ton better...really the box should have been black in the first place like the first generation box.
microsoft isnt forcing anyone to buy it, its just offering some options that people have been screaming about...just meeting the consumer needs.

I think it looks cool but I also think the Whitish one looks cool.
My White 360 is not dirty at all and I don't realy care about color.
