Over the last couple of weeks my 360 has started to tell me that the disc is dirt and that I need to clean it. Now I take a lot of care over my games (at £50-£60 a game you have to), and when I take them out and have a look they look clean I simple close the drive again and they work fine (didn’t clean the disc, just shut the drive).

This morning I was playing GOW and got the same error message, this game hasn’t left my machine since I brought it on Friday, this time when I closed the drive it told me that the disc needs to be used in a Xbox 360. I open the drive and looked at the back of the disc and then placed it back into machine and the game started up fine.

Is this the first signs that my 360 is on it’s way out, has anyone else experienced similar things before there consoles stopped working?

Do you think its worth contacting MS yet or will they just tell me to keep my discs clean?

Look to see how much dirt is in the air holes on the unit. I could be that it is in a real dusty environment and just needs cleaning. *fingers crossed*

im afriad that it seems to be the end of your 360's life Crying or Very sad , well it was with me. it keeps coming up with white screen which says insert disc into 360 console. about a week after that my 360 just repeatidly stopped loading games. i first thought it was my games but it seemed it was just the drive that was faulty.

if it makes u feel any better im away to have my 3rd replacament Sad i guess its all about luck

doa666 had exactly the same issue..
It slowly stopped reading his games but still booted..

He had to send back to M$ and it only took 12 days exactly to come back.. So that wasnt too bad..

His drive is working fine again..

Personally i believe M$ would have been doing something checking firmwares on the last update and many dvd drives crashed id say..

2 friends of mine have had the same issue.

hope to see ya back in the game soon man..

I've had the same problem but only with Gears of War it will pop up and say can't read disc please clean it blah blah blah and so I open the drive and shut it works fine and also the 3rd time it happened to me I just let it sit there and it started working again so thsi better not be the end of my 360 as I've only had it about 2 months and I didnt get the extended warranty

It doesn't mean your wife doesn't keep a clean house, merely that she relies on the Xbox 360 to do the "dusting"! Wink

My wife just read my comments and called me the same thing. Now be honest with us! Did you really marry her for her housekeeping abilities? Judging from her photo, I'd say you married her for her beauty. A good maid is much easier to find than a good wife. Wives don't advertise in the phone book and they sure as hell won't provide you with a list of previous "employers"! Wink
