For all of you out there that have an xbox 360 and are running Windows XP. Do any of you use windoes media connect because i ahve a question. Is there ANY way of turning off the notification bubble that popps up when you turn on your pc telling you that WMC file sharing is now enabled. I mean, i already know it's enabled, because i damn well set it up to be on all the time, but i hate the little bubble that tells me this. So if anyone can tell me how to turn off notification of this i'd really appreciate it.

Thanks

Pred

I just changed the settings. Read this :

To turn on or off all folder sharing immediately
To temporarily prevent all of your shared folders from being shared with your devices, use the Stop button. This is a convenient alternative to using the Sharing pane, and it does not permanently remove all of your shared folders.

In Windows, click Start, click All Programs, and then click Windows Media Connect.
Click Settings, and then click Start or Stop.
Note

If the Automatically start folder sharing when Windows starts check box is selected, folder sharing will be turned on when you restart your computer.

I can't figure out how to get the connect to work, it never shows up for me, the 360 scans, and never finds my pc, going to go through windows update and such in a bit.

Already installed windows connect.

I also can't get media connect to work. I downloaded connect, enabled sharing and all the other stuff. The 360 can't see my pc and pc can't see 360. I also can't seen to create a network on my pc. I use the network wizzard and it gets to the point where it says I have to upload networking software to my other computer (360).Am I supposed to load this in the 360? If choose to continue without loading software to other pc, nothing happens or changes. I'm lost.

Right, i had a similar problem with setting up a network with my 360 and my pc. I am using a router and wanted the 360 to connect to the internet through the router as well as the pc. After 2 hours on the phone with MS support i still couldn't find the problem, then i happened to notice one little thing. My router will allow access of other machines on a network between the ranges of 192.168.0.100 to 192.168.0.199. The thing is i mistook the fact that it was an ip address of 192.168.0.ONEHUNDRED and what i thought it was saying was 192.168.0.ONE, if you understand what i mean. All i had to do was set the starting address on the ip range to 192.168.0.2 because it is the very next address after the router itself which is 192.168.0.1 . I hope i explained that properly, and i'm not sure if it will solve your problem, but it's worth a try bro.

I also had an issue and found out how to get it working. I went to control panel, Administrative tools, Services, And you MUST have Universal Plug And Play Device Host Enabled for it to work. If not then It wont. So try that and let me know if that fixed it for you guys.

I am also trying to do the same.... have access to the internet (XBL), and network with the PC through a router (Linksys BEFSR41). If you set the next address to be 192.168.1.2 that of the 360 then what address is the PC?

If I connect my 360 directy to the PC I have no problems and can stream music and view pics through the 360, but connecting through the router the 360 can't see the PC, even though the 360 shows up in Media Connect on said PC. I still don't get it.

My firewall was conflicting with getting connected....I was kinda pissed, shut my firewall off and was sitting here on the site and it miraculously started working....must be something with being connected to an xbox site....ya know...so never leave this site if you want your 360 working good...just click a bunch of ads and that sort of thing...later.
