I live in China, a place not friendly to the Xbox 360. that being said, i found a place that j-tagged my xbox and put many games onto my HDD. Problem is more than half the games are in the Chinese language, and the game stores out here are unreliable. ive been teaching myself how to put games onto the HDD myself using a USB flash, i have FSD and Xexmenu nad managed to convert a game into the GOD format and use a FAT32 USB drive to place it on the HDD, but when i try to run the game my 360 shuts down, what did i do wrong?!?!?! im so close, HELP!!!!

Hello, since you are using FSD (FreeStyle Dashboard) I would recommend simply extracting the ISO of the game on your PC, and then transferring it to a folder on your consoles hard drive. All you need to do from there is specify the folder that FSD to search and your game will be found. This is a easier, and also more efficient method than converting every game you have to GOD (Games on Demand) format. You should be able to find a good Xbox ISO extractor by simply doing a google search on "Xbox 360 XISO Extract".

If you have any questions or concerns by all means feel free to let us know and we will be happy to further assist you. Good luck backing up all of your games!

I've had this happen before and it just takes some playing around to get working (try different applications and version), but personally I would recommend using FTP to transfer everything as it's a lot easier. Simply plug in your hard drive to your xbox, launch either XexMenu or Freestyle Dash 3, then make sure it's connected to the same network (router) as your PC.

Once you've done this, all you need to do is download a simple free FTP client such as FileZilla, plug in the IP address of the console which is given in XexMenu and Freestyle dash, then connect to the console and transfer away. The default username and password is "xbox" (without quotes) for both the username and password.

All you need to do for putting the game on the console is extract the ISO using an ISO extraction application, create a folder on "Hdd:\" in FileZilla named Games, and then transfer the game onto the hard drive.

Here is a front-end application I made for extracting an Xbox 360 ISO using ExISO. Very simply to use, simply select the ISO and click Extract & select where you would like the files to extract too.
