^^ (for the xbox original game, not a 360 game) is the above related to "x3key" or "unleashx/dvd2xbox" dump methods?
.......
i understand about the security and the (possible) CDDA audio stream some xbox games have but what of the dumping methods?
i know of a pata/ide dvd writer for computers that can read "xiso" retail games, the kreyon drive (crayon as it's called in some parts) but they were IMPOSSIBLE for most to get as the numbers are limited...furthermore, surely all the xbox 1/1 TRUE retail dumps weren't just dumped through the above mentioned computer drive!
i've got a LOT of retail images from my own stash that was dumped via "unleashx/dvd2xbox"...disabling the "auto-patch xbe" in advance of course, don't wanna alter the original file structure!
..
so, at the risk of appearing confrontational (not my intention) and with all due respect, could you please elaborate on what "won't work"...old timer here having trouble understanding! Embarassed
thanks! Wink
[edit]....if you mean "rips won't work on the x3key but 1/1 retail dumps will"...i just thought of that now!
apologies for not seeing it sooner! (can't really tell who your post was directed to) Embarassed

The only way to make 1:1 copie is with a xbox original drive or Xbox360 original drive with 0800 firmware plugged to the pc and using xbox backup creator app

you need that with every method: physical drive or xkey

ps: unless you have a console with jtag

ahh, i see!
so basically plugging in one of the console dvd roms into a computer and using a UI from that?
understood loud and clear!
hijacking the drive by computer and streaming the dump direct to it's hdd getting all other "data" that is missed by the "xbox" methods (BGA and the like) a bit like tapping into a gamecube for it's drive usage (nw tool only for a nw dump)
to be honest, i wasn't aware of that particular method (and it stand to reason why a few of my hashes conflicted with the redump lot...not many conflicts but more than enough for comfort)
thanks a tonne for that info, will look into it! (if this works out will have to redo my roms that have conflicted hashes) Cool Smile Very Happy
[edit]...oh no...
i have a jtag but an x3key/COMPUTER drive dump i'll trust more!
my wode for wii does 1/1 dumps!
("dvd2xbox" and "unleashx" are out the window for a TRUE 1/1 retail dump of an xbox game, i was confident the "x3key" would dump the item 1/1 style...i suspected as much earlier! if the wode does...being more or less the same thing as the "x3key")
still DON'T trust "jtag" method"...vs fpga emulator dump methods...(unlx, dvd2xbox and jtag is always subject to outlook and it's NOT an fpga emulator or direct logic hack, always opted for the direct logic probes that why i'm after a x3key and why i have the wode for wii!)
