I might grab a SSD and throw it in my desktop (better yet laptop) and load windows on to it. I'd just use it for Downloading 360 games. I was wondering if I'd see any difference in time for transferring files onto an external drive.

No transfer speed will always be limited by the USB interface. If its 2.0 all you will see is a max of 2.0 speeds. All an SSD does is makes stuff load faster.

The thing I would be wondering is, What OS will you be running and what size of SSD you plan on getting?

True, Linux has faster file transfer speeds using EXT4 file system (Because of that Xk3y recommends using EXT4 on it)
