Mp4, Xvid files like that is what it has to be u could convert it to them i use a program called xilisoft video converter u have to pay for that program but there is some out there that are free. if it is already like that then go log onto xbox live and go to market place and then game addon then select the "O" category and select optional media update. Then Try it. Also here is a link to another topic with all that will play on the xbox 360: http://www.360-hq.com/postt2628.html its not a full list but getting there.

you could try this program which can covert dvds 2 avi files (divx/xvid) for the xbox 360..
http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/download-file-526.html

I have no need to convert files.. Most everthing i have is in XVID or the latest DIVX codec.. you could also install TVERSITY.com media server on your pc which can transcode any files to the right format and will be available in your videos tab.
