we dont have VAT in the usa. we only have state sales tax. unless you by from a online retailer from a different state. if you buy from a online retailer from another state then the item is tax free.

well lets say you come to my state and buy a xbox 360 for 199.99.
my state will add .975 which is about 10 cents on the dollar.

but if you buy a system from say tigerdirect.com and they dont have a store in the state your in, then you pay no tax.

hmm... Looks like the system in US is very difrente from Europe.

For example in Portugal which have one of the higeste VAT 20% when i buy a 360 the com invoice shows that the final price 20% of it goes to the State.

If i buy it in Spain will be 16% in France 19,5% If you buy it online there is no VAT

Looks like the stores get less money in Europe comparing to US. Of course here we pay more to the State but we get more from the State.

So if you buy something in USA and then you sell it to me(like ebay), how can I prove to the Customs here that you did pay everything the US State demands if there is no VAT in USA??? Question

they dont ask for proof from us. we just go to the post office and ship it like normal with a customs form. which we then can select the option to label it as a gift or we can put the value on it, which will usually make most people from other countries pay a duty fee.

What happens here in Europe is that the Customs demand us to pay VAT of the value of the ship, the only way that wont happen is when sent as gift... At least in theory.

I am wainting for another xbox 360 from USA, it was sent as gift, i am wondering if the Customs here will hold it or not. I am praying that will not happen. If they hold it my wallet will cry...
