hi, i have not had my xbox 360 elite for that long, i have signed up to xbox live and managed to get my network etc all working. if i power up my xbox with a game in it loads no probs but if i press eject to change game etc more often than not i get confronted with initial startup screen, select locale etc i cannot exit this process until i have been through everything setting it up again. this is very annoying, sometimes after i have just finished initial setup and press exit, it will start again. i have even changed my console startup to dashboard but it will do it again almost resetting everything. why would it default to initial setup? if i have just done it? just by pressing eject i would like it to load the dashboard everytime and login to xbox live before anything else. any help would be great Confused

That is pretty strange, I'd say start out by clearing your cache.

Go to the system blade and then select memory.

Press Y on the HD symbol and then press X,X,Left Bumper, Right Bumper, X,X. Once you do this a messsage will appear saying: Do you want to perform maintenance on your Xbox 360 storage devices?

Performing this function will also clear any software updates.

Try that out, if that don't fix it well go from there.

Hi satanmf2k3,

Welcome to HQ.
It sounds like endless has the right idea.

Sounds to me like a cache problem too.
Try the remove cache procedure and hopefully it will sort out your issues.

cheers,

hobbs

I gotta ask. Very Happy Does clearing out your cache also delete your game saves? And other saved items on your hard drive? I just thought I would throw this question out there since it will probably be asked in the next post. Very Happy

Good catch Rebel.

All downloaded game updates will be removed. So if you have downloaded an auto-update for a game, in order to play it on Xbox Live you will need to re-download it.

User game saves, profiles, demos, videos, etc. are not deleted during the process.

It sounds to me like a cache issue aswell, but another side note do you have the latest dashboard installed (probably do, just thought I'd ask) and if you want even more details on how to clear the cache heres a tutorial

Was probably a bad update. I doubt you should have to do it again. Glad you got it sorted.
