If you are having a great deal of trouble getting windows media center and your xbox 360 to connect with each other.

you will still need the 8 digit number code from your xbox which is self done by folling the easy directions on your xbox 360

Most people are having trouble once they go thru the set up process by having the error of "extender not found" many call microsoft to no avail. This applies to most if not all routers if that is how you are wired. Wired is much better them wireless by the way.

When you get the "extender not found" it is not any fault of the xbox nor the pc, its the router. Mine is a linksys befsr41.

now for the simple fix:
first you need to get inside the router by typing its ip address into the the address bar on your PC )internet exploror) mine is 192.168.1.1-----then enter you password and user name---defult on most is admin ----admin----once you typed that in and then it will open up settings in your router-----go to security and enable the filter multicast option----yes I said enable it----save settings on your router-----then unplug the router-----then tuen off xbox console---then turn off PC for a few minites----plug router back in (power cord) then let it go thru its start up (the lights thing) then turn on PC (let it load to desk top)---then turn on xbox 360 console----then go to windows media center and start the process all over again by entering in your 8 digit number code----and wal--la----guess what----it will now find extender(thats the xbox itsself by the way) and after all is done thats it----you do not have to change any firewall ports or nothing---windows will do all that for you---well I hope this helps some people if it did ---respond and let me know---I like to know when I help my fellow boxer------Have a great day---and hey if it didnt work and you followed what I said to the "T" ---respond here and let me know----hell I will even walk you thru it over the phone if you want.
