I got it two days ago which i'm pretty bummed about
I've had my 360 since 22-dec-2005 its only frozen twice, I guess its off to microsoft and hope they don't check it's been opened worst case scenario they send it back unrepaired and i have to try the x-clamp fix.

Well I will tell you this the x-clamp replacement has really help me alot. I have brought both of my 360s back to life with it.

Is it easy to do, i mean i'm going to try and send it to old M$ first just because if they can fix it for free under warrent I might as well but if they don't I'd like to know how hard it is.
It looks fairly simple apart for the whole shim part, but it say's it's only recommended not really needed.

Yeah I didnt use the shim. Just make sure and use Lawdawgs tutorial. It is very easy to follow and he even has part numbers for lowes and if they dont have the parts which mine was out I have the part numbers for Home depot.
You will need:
8 5mmx10mm machine screws pan- phillips. 3 per pack DR#313
16 #10 flat nylon washers. 5 per pack DR#610
16 5mm Flat steel washers. 4 per pack DR# 606
