i plan on getting a halo edition 360, and when i get sick of halo i'll be modding it. I was just wondering if you guys heared anything about it and how moddable it is, i was also wondering if you guys knew of a tutorial that shows you how to mod an elite (odds are it'll be closer to the elite than the basic)

Elites are known to have 79fk drives. Currently you have to install a chip on the drive, to enable it to be flashable. Might come out with a software only way of flashing it by the time you get around to modding your drive.

yea, i was looking into soft modding my xbox, but all the posts on it seemed fairly old so i just assumed that it was a phased out method of modding.
so if i soft modded my xbox i would be able to play backed up games right, cause i lost a copy of halo 2 to scratches and i dont intend for the same thing to happen to my halo 3 CD.
