Am i the only person who is not looking forward to IM on 360. If i'm playing a game or watching a video i don't want a IM poping up on the screen I don't mind the notification that i've got a new message but a overlay with IM messages on it no thanks. I don't even have IM on my PC so why the hell do i want it on my games console. With the voice chat features of the 360 i don't see the need for this.
Does any one know if you can turn IM off? _________________________________________________________

I have no doubt there will be a option to disable IM's.. I know i wont want to be interupted either.. lmao.
But it will be handy if you do want to chat for a bit.

AS this is part os the spring update there is no choice, you either install it or dont play on live again. At least on the PC you have a choice. _________________________________________________________

there is a way around that kinda well you can sign in as "appear offline" or "invisable" that might be an option lol _________________________________________________________ xbox AID 4.10 80GB WD

Are you worried about Messenger spam? It seems like that would be particularly annoying if it popped up while watching a movie, for instance.
We are not worried about Messenger spam. Privacy settings on the Xbox 360 allow you to choose if you want to receive messages from all gamers, friends or nobody. You can also appear away or offline to people on your friends list so that they won’t send you messages when you don’t want to be disturbed.
We have also built in the flexibility to, for example, appear online to your gaming friends but offline to your IM friends. We want to ensure that our consumers only receive messages when they want them.
Just read the above on gamasutra , they have an interview with Microsoft's Greenberg.
So at least i can disable IM and will do as soon as the spring update is released. _________________________________________________________
