Call of Duty: World at War Gets Some Love From Reviewers Published by: wes213 on Friday, November 14, 2008 Tagged: Xbox 360,
The reports are in and there is no doubt that Call of Duty: World at War is a hit in all ways even with the hand full of Call of Duty 4 fans that just wont budge, from the fast pace killing in online play to the fun and frustrating single player the critics all seem to agree this game rocks.

If you go by my poll that had very few votes (so don't blame me for the out come) it looks like the HQ fans out there have the same ratings as other sites which look like this:
IGN - 9.2/10
GamePro - 4.5/5
Gamespot - 8.5/10
Play UK - 68%
Eurogamer - 8/10
Kikizo - 9/10
GameSpy - 4.5/5
Speaking for the hand full of gamers out there that just cant bring there self around to loving this game Play UK gave it the lowest marks with a better then middle of the road 68% and said it was a bit over the top in the violence area but we all know thats not possible.
I would like to thank videogaming247.com for the review results and for being one hell of a good site over all, there you have it like it or not Call of Duty: World at War is a damn good game.

Call Of Duty: World At War Beta Only For Xbox 360 & PC Published by: tms_crazy_taxi on Monday, September 29, 2008 Tagged: Xbox 360,
According to the people at Activision, Call Of Duty: World At War multiplayer beta will be on the Xbox 360 & PC only.

Infinity Ward did the same thing last year with Call Of Duty 4 beta hosted only on the 360. The reasoning behind it was mainly due to the increased server and connectivity data that can be collected and used.
So there you have it folks Call Of Duty: World At War beta multiplayer will be on 360 and PC only and for obvious reasons.

The Future Of COD4, 5, And 6 DLC Published by: wes213 on Tuesday, September 16, 2008 Tagged: Xbox 360,
Yeah you saw the six up there and it is set to be an Infinity Ward developed tittle and Activision Publishing CEO Mike Griffith has said a lot more in this interview with Edge-online.com but the mass point here is how well the COD franchise is doing when it comes to down loadable content.
The Edge article in question reads as follows: Activision raked in millions in sales with 2007's Call of Duty 4, but the publisher sees more opportunities beyond the retail box with the upcoming sequel.
"We ... see strong opportunities to monetize online gameplay," said Activision Publishing CEO Mike Griffith during an analyst day on Monday. "The average Call of Duty player has spent nearly five full 24-hour days of their lives online since purchasing the game.
"Over time, we'll qualify more opportunities to increase the monetization of these activities."
Infinity Ward-developed CoD4 has paid downloadable maps available on digital storefronts, but with CoD5, developed by Activision studio Treyarch, downloadable content will be a considerably bigger priority.
Griffith added that Activision "plans to increase online monetization" with CoD5, offering "3x the amount of content available for download and premium content called 'Day One Advantage.'"
Strong support for online aspects of games also drives retail sales, he said.
"Continuing to engage consumers online with Call of Duty [4] is a large part of the reason you still see the title selling for $59.99 in stores and the absence of any used games in the market for Call of Duty," said Griffith.
CoD4 has sold 11 million units to date.
Griffith also said he expects CoD5 to be "Treyarch's highest-quality game ever."
As for CoD6, he confirmed that Infinity Ward's next game is slated for 2009.

  | Call of Duty 4 Double XP On Its Way | |
Call of Duty 4 Double XP On Its Way Published by: wes213 on Wednesday, September 03, 2008 Tagged: Gaming,
Robert Bowling is the Director of Communications / Community Manager for the award winning video game development studio Infinity Ward; the team behind the 2007 Game of the Year Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare has posted a blog on fourzerotwo.com about an upcoming double XP weekend and we got the low down on all this for you right here.

Robert Bowlings post reads as follows: "Back from PAX means back to work, and while it’s a short week thanks to Labor Day it’s the one time I wish it wasn’t because I have a lot of stuff to get done. I’m currently working on getting everything organized and together for an upcoming Xbox Live / PSN promotion we have coming up the weekend of Sept. 12th - 14th. Which isn’t this weekend, but next weekend. I will have exact details on what it is in the near future but I have a gut feeling it’ll have Double XP attached to it for all those hungry for some power-leveling on Call of Duty 4.
Currently working on designing some Xbox Live banners to promote it on the marketplace and attempting to get everything together for it on our end. This promotion is technically unrelated to the new Playlists, but I won’t lie that my hope is to finish them up in time so that we can make it all one big promotion. How epic would that be? Our awesome QA team and producers are helping me push hard to make it happen by the weekend of the big promotion, no promises, but as always I’ll keep you updated on the progress."
So there you have it guys and girls, oil up your guns and lace your boots tight for some major damage.

OXM List Xbox 360 Dead Online Games Published by: forahobby on Tuesday, August 12, 2008 Tagged: Gaming, Xbox 360, Xbox Live,
The guys over at OXM have gone to all the effort of checking out the Xbox 360's older games to see if you can still get a game online. Check out the list below for the full info.
The most popular games online are Call of Duty 4 and Halo 3. You know that, I know that, everyone knows that.
So what happens to the lesser known games as time marches on and the smaller games are squeezed off the shelves? Do the communities live on? Do the hardcore refuse to let go? Do newcomers to Xbox Live wander into empty lobbies and try to figure out why nothing is working?
We take a handful of older games in the office and give them a whirl online, to see what's left of the original communities...

  | Bungie Has A Lot To Learn From COD4 | |
Bungie Has A Lot To Learn From COD4 Published by: wes213 on Wednesday, August 06, 2008 Tagged: Gaming, Xbox 360, Xbox Live,
This will come as no real surprise to the mass of COD4 fans out there but might leave the Halo fans scratching there heads and saying WTF, in an interview with GameIndustry Bungie's Lead AI Programmer, Damian Isla, made a few comments i found to be interesting if not just a good idea.

Damian Isla's comments were as follows: "We have a lot to learn from their success too, they did some very innovative things to keep people going and their experience-rewards system was something that we paid a lot of attention to."
"I think it's a great game and single player obviously is fantastic... they did a hell of a job with their set pieces, of scripting certain moments that they were really sure the player was going to actually see and experience first hand. The way that they use those moments to craft the player experience...Halo has a lot to learn from."
"While we certainly have many scenes throughout the Halo series that are scripted in-game moments, a lot of time players don't experience it, or they don't see the thing going on, or they maybe don't experience it in quite the same way that we expected them to."
"I think Halo has always been an extremely simulation driven game...simulation, I think, adds replayability - it adds depth to the game - but it also makes scripting much more difficult and it means designers have a much harder time."
If you ask me the one point not made but i feel is needed is the fact a copy of COD4 has dropped in price while Halo3 is still around 60 bucks which is the one thing that has stopped me and lots of gamers like me from getting a copy.

  | Infinity Ward says: No Trophies for CoD4 | |
Infinity Ward says: No Trophies for CoD4 Published by: wes213 on Thursday, July 03, 2008 Tagged: Gaming, Xbox 360, Xbox Live,
If you head over to Infinity Ward’s forums and poke around you might find this topic and read that Infinity Ward has no plans to add any new options at all, not just trophies to COD4.

In the forum post Rob Bowling has confirmed that Trophies aren’t going to be added to the PS3 version of Call of Duty 4 and went on to say: “At this time, we have no plans to patch in Trophy support for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare for the PS3,” he said. “Much like DualShock rumble addition to the PS3, the support for these new features have come much to late for us to add it to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare due to our current production schedule.”
If you was to dig around on the net you would see that their are lots of games for the PS3 that will not be adding the Trophies update.
For the PS3 fans out there that are not happy with this news i can confirm that all the games do have a Trophy system and all you need to do in order to access them is get an XBOX 360 and boom you just unlocked the Trophies system for all your favorite games.

  | Call of Duty 4 sold 10 million units | |
Call of Duty 4 sold 10 million units Published by: wes213 on Wednesday, June 04, 2008 Tagged: Gaming, Xbox Live,
With 10 million copy's sold Call of Duty 4 has moved in to an exclusive league that vary few games have or will ever make it to, games like Guitar Hero III, Halo 3, and Grand Theft Auto IV and with a bit of luck maybe Call Of Duty 5 will join the club if producer Tryarch can reproduce the Inifinity Ward magic.

Cnet reported that "Infinity Ward studio head Vince Zampella didn't know exactly how many units the game had sold on each platform it is available on--the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC--but did say that COD 4 had been most successful on the Xbox."
The out look for the COD series is good but Cnet reported "Zampella acknowledged that COD 4 has set the bar very high for his studio, and it's hard to imagine Infinity Ward being able to come right back with another 10 million-seller but, COD 4 still has some juice left. He suggested that the game is still selling, that it's map pack add-on has sold 1.5 million copies, and that the main game itself is expected to sell a lot more copies this holiday season.
