Grand Theft Auto developer puts a back spin on their latest game offering.

Rockstar, one of the industry's most controversial developers, is planning to make a game that will have everyone's heads spinning. Later this year they plan to release a game based on Forrest Gump's favorite past time, Ping Pong, otherwise known as Table Tennis.

The office located in San Diego were responsible for two of the three "Midnight Club" series, and also last year's "Red Dead Revolver", they are now working on this game to be released May 23rd.The game will be for the Xbox 360, and by the looks of the screenshots available may even rival EA's "Fight Night Round 3" for the best looking game released so far. Judging from the real life addictiveness of this game, I'm going to assume that this game will be just as addictive or maybe more so since you don't have to physically exert yourself with every bounce of the ball.

The game will release with a "Budget Title" price point at $39.99, this will definitely tempt owners to buy it and just try it because if it being close to half of the cost of some other games being released for the 360. Rockstar has been known for its radical approach to games, and it shows in this game. The analysts don't expect the game to sell as well as the other titles that this division of Take Two Interactive has sold, but coupled with the short supply from Microsoft and the left field subject of this game no one can blame the analysts for thinking this way.

Of course going back in time we all remember the first game to try to emulate Ping Pong, a little gem known as "Pong", since them not many developers have tried to even bother with a game based on this Olympic sport, this is a golden opportunity to show exactly what the Xbox 360 can do and will also try to break the mold of traditional sports games.

With 11 unique characters to choose from, and 19 venues, this game promises an unmatched level of detail. Of course no table tennis game would be complete without some of the biggest brands, including Killerspin, Adidas, Joola, Butterfly, and more. You will also be able to hold the paddle in the normal two fashions, pen style and also the normal style that most people learn to play with, it's probably what you use at home. The pen style consist of holding the handle much like you would a pen in between your first finger and your middle finger, this style allows for better control in certain situations, but each style has both pros and cons.

In table tennis, just like regular tennis, you can put several types of spin on the ball which will make it more difficult for the opponent to hit it back to you, which of course means a point for you. You can put top spin on the ball in order to push it fast toward your opponent, you can put backspin to make it slow down and try to make your opponent miss the ball, you can also put left or right spin on the ball to make it curve through the air and hopefully bounce wildly when it hits the table. Once you master all of the types of shots you will be able to take on most any opponent and have a very good series of volleys.

All in all this game looks like it will be a game to compare any other game graphically, the gameplay seems to be very addictive with the fast paced exchanges and simplistic nature of the sport in itself. Being made by Rockstar almost guarantees this game will be of the highest quality possible, there will be plenty of sides of this game to learn and master. The Xbox Live Multiplayer games will be some of the most intense and fun action seen yet on the 360. We'll see how the public receives this game come May 23rd at a price of $39.99.
