Konami has very proudly announced "the release date" for the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, getting gamers all excited for February 2, 2012 – and very neatly ignoring the detail that this date is for PAL regions (Australasia and Europe), and not for North America or Japan.

Gamers in the United States, Japan and other NTSC regions will be getting the collection on November 8th this year, just a couple of weeks away.

The Australian/European release, however, has been delayed by more than four months – but we’ve finally found out why, thanks to a belated update from Konami. Originally, we’d only seen a simple Facebook post, mentioning a “slight delay”.

"Thank you for your patience as we strive to bring you your favorite Metal Gear titles in 1080P and 60 frames-per-second!"

Then, however, we received a most interesting message: The game’s actually been delayed to add more cool stuff for the European/Australasian audience!

While the US version contains a mere three games, PAL Territories and Europe actually get five, with the MSX originals of Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake thrown into the mix as well.

There’s also rumors of an exclusive limited edition pack in some territories.
