You may or may not recall a news post a few days back stating that the xbox 360 had a 16.4% failure rate while the PS3 and Wii came in at a low 3.??%.

In a new post they have added what we wanted to start with, more details on the subject, such as the fact that only 10% was from the Red Ring Of Death.

The report which tracked a test group of consoles for warranties purchased between April 1 and July 31 last year, details the 171 claims made and notes that only one of the 27 Elite SKUs and eight of the 57 Core SKUs were claimed on.

Premium models made up the mass of the problem units with a range of defects like 'Red Ring of Death' at 60% or 10% of the warranties and disk read errors, video card failures, hard drive freezes, power issues and disk tray malfunctions.

SquareTrade did say : The units tested are unlikely to have included any of the consoles sold more recently that were intended to counter many of the failures of the original models.
