WoW for 360?Published by Arvas on Thursday, May 21, 2009 Tagged: Gaming, Xbox 360, Xbox Live, A possibility? Maybe. A definite buy for some Xbox 360 Gamers? Absolutely! World of Warcraft (WoW) has rocked the PC gaming world for over 4 years now. With over 11 million gamers paying $15 a month just to play, I’d say the game is a definite success… but why do people play it?
WoW offers a great deal of things a player can do, from questing, to running instances, to PvP. The whole game is almost a Sandbox game, except for the leveling system. If you’ve never played the game before you’re probably asking, “What makes that fun?” Well, think about the fact that you’re essentially playing a Life simulator in the form of an MMORPG...
Now I assume you’re asking, “Okay sure, it might be fun, but how would it work?” Well, I’m going to answer with a program. SwitchBlade, a program for PC allow PC gamers to play games with a 360 controller, that isn’t originally mapped for a 360 controller… even know you’re asking, “HOW!?!” Well WoW’s original interface allows players to map out 12 action buttons on their action bars. And an easy way to simulate this would be you’re A, B, X, and Y buttons being action buttons 1-4 then while holding down L they switch to 5-8, when holding down R it switches to 9-12. Then when you press LB or RB you’ll scroll through your action bars… and pressing Left Stick would switch it to mouse mode, which would allow you to have an on screen mouse. I’m not going to go through everything but I think you get the picture.
One major problem that Blizzard would have to give us WoW on the 360, is making sure that the whole game fits on one CD. With both expansions included the game is about 11GB… an easy fix to this problem has already been released by Microsoft though, the ability to install games onto your Xbox 360 Hard-Drive. And I’m sure, anyone willing to play WoW on the 360 would be willing to install it on their hard drive.
This is much less of a hope but a petition, if enough of us band together maybe Blizzard will notice. If you believe in the cause you should vote in the the latest poll, and when we get enough votes maybe we can make this dream, a reality.
