Thou Shalt Not Offend......Published by GAMExxOVER on Sunday, July 01, 2007
Just when you thought the Gaming industry was getting soft for practicly banning Manhunt 2 off the face of the earth for its violent content, we hit a new low!
French Game Giant Ubisoft is pulling one of its game off the shelves and appologising to the world for content in one of its games. What is the horrible content that could cause such a recall and the outrage of so many you ask? Was it a Hot Coffee scene (if you are a true gamer you know what that was all about), babies being boiled in oil, instructions on how to build a vest bomb, No! but something much much more offensive. The Game dared to use an OFFENSIVE WORD!. Well we all play plenty of games with language like "That B**ch owes me money"....."Mother F****R" etc etc... so what was this magic word that causes a game to pulled from shelves? Ok here it comes, make sure your children are not in the room and if you have a faint heart please do not read further....
The word used in the DS game BRAIN GAME is RETARDED! yes RETARDED! in a part of the game if you miss a question you are called RETARDED. This is so offensive and non PC that it has caused the game to be pulled from the shelves. Below is a direct quote from the story. The BBC NEWS wrote up a news story on the subject and it seems the word is so offensive that the word is not actualy even used in the news story, I had to do additional research to find out what the word was. I must go now, need to wrap my head in duct tape before it explodes.
"The game was developed in Japan, and we unfortunately did not pick up on the offending word in our quality assurance. We are currently working with the developer to find a way to rectify the issue."
