Gamers worldwide soon to take their first criminal steps in Empire Bay with the action-packed crime game demo.
New York, NY – July 22, 2010 – 2K Games announced today that its upcoming epic action crime game, Mafia® II, will have a downloadable demo available worldwide on August 10 for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and Windows PC. Set in the fully realized and immersive 1940’s and 1950’s American urban cityscape of Empire Bay, soon all gamers will be able to experience the decadent and meticulously crafted atmosphere, intense shooting and driving gameplay, and character narrative in Mafia II that is set to be released on August 24 in North America, August 26 in Australia and August 27 internationally.
The Mafia II demo invites gamers to dive into the “Buzzsaw” level, where Vito and his buddies, Joe and Henry, are sent to take out a mobster known as “The Fat Man”. While the epic game spans two decades, the Buzzsaw demo takes place during the summer of the ‘50s – a time considered the “Birth of Cool”, and with it, rock ‘n’ roll, hot rods, and rebellious attitudes. The demo showcases the type of vibrant edge-of-your-seat action, as well as a slice of the expansive city of Empire Bay in the colorful era.
Mafia II looks to be the industry's most compelling action crime game to date. Players take control of Vito Scaletta, who is making a name for himself on the streets of Empire Bay. He’s someone who can be trusted to get a job done. Together with his buddy Joe, he is working to prove himself to the Mafia quickly escalating up the family ladder with crimes of larger reward, status and consequences… the life as a wise guy isn’t quite as untouchable as it seems.
Mafia II is rated M for Mature by the ESRB. For more information on Mafia II, please visit the 360-HQ games database or the official mafia2game.com website from the links below.

According to some leaked screenshots, it appears that Microsoft might be preparing a cosmetic revamp of the Xbox 360's Dashboard in their upcoming Fall update this November.
As some might remember, Microsoft had already announced earlier that this update, among other things, would implement the new Family Center, which would allow a family to buy only one Xbox Live Gold account instead of having to buy individual ones.
The leaked screenshots appear to have a Metro-like appeal to them, the codename being the new UI scheme that the latest version of the Zune hardware and PC application are using, as well as the upcoming Windows Phone 7. The tiles appear to be done horizontally now, instead of the skewed angular perspective the current dashboard uses. The menu fonts, as well as some of the other fonts in the screenshots, appear to be thinner and the colors are more neutral than the heavy hues currently used.
As of yet, Microsoft has yet to comment on the leak, but the screenshots do match previous released screenshots of the Family Center from the company, so this is likely the real deal.
